Hello Everyone!

My husband and I sailed on the NCL Jade Oct 25 of this year. We kept a daily blog of our cruise and the 2 weeks of independent travel around Turkey afterwards. If you would like to read about it please check out my blog!

Donna-Lee, I just finished reading all of your trip blogs, which I truly enjoyed once I got over the menopause comment and a few other old folks digs:)!! And here I was thinking that I was a young cruiser because I am still in my 50's and most of the folks on our Oceania cruise were in their 70's at least. Thanks for the link.

I am glad you had the opportunity to get to know Istanbul better at the end of your trip, because our four days in Istanbul was the highlight of our trip (pre-cruise, September 2008 Istanbul to Athens). I also was interested in your rest of Turkey impressions, because we only stopped at Kusadasi (for Ephesus), and I would like to return someday and see some more. We enjoyed Dubrovnik, Athens, and the Greek islands but thought Turkey was special. Thanks again for your helpful post.

Yikes! I should have proof-read the blog before I posted a link! Sorry if I offended anyone! We were really impressed with the stamina of the older crowd onboard. My husband and I are 28 and every night we went to bed exhausted at 10pm! We would watch the tv and see the late night party video footage that we were too tired to attend. Hats off to all of you who can sight-see all day, walk miles and miles and then rip it up all night.

Sorry again if I've offended anyone. I was really just meaning that I'm glad that we are able to travel at our age. Some passengers were mobility challenged and it just showed us that we have alot to be thankful for.

I was amused, not offended. Yours is the first travel blog I have read other than those of the travel guide writer Rick Steves' and his family. It's wonderful to read travel impressions while they are still fresh rather than filtered by the passage of revisionist time.:)

Hi!

My DH and I will be in Turkey for 10 days on land travel in April as part of a larger trip

IST, Ephesus and Capadoccia..we had toyed with the Pamukkale..but is that bus ride REALLY worth it?

just wondering where you stayed in IST?

Also, could you provide more details on the cooking class.

Thanks!

We did enjoy getting to see Pamukkale, if we had to do it all over again we probably would have stayed in Cappdocia for another day instead. It is a looooong bus ride that's for sure!

But we're really glad we got to see it in the end, so I guess you have to decide that for yourself. We stayed at the Hotel Niles in Istanbul, it was great!

Here is the link to the cooking class we took.

It was fun but quite expensive. We were hoping to learn recipes that we could recreate at home but the food was much fancier and more labor intensive than I thought it would be!
