CruisinMaterial Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 There was another thread about this and no one knows why she was going into dry dock for two weeks but she should be hitting water again soon because she is scheduled to sail this Sunday, December 21st. She's at the shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas. I'm sailing on her January 4, 2009. Can't wait! Whatever they've done I'm sure its not to the pax areas considering she's a new ship in their fleet. Rumors have it that it might be something with the ship's stabilizers but that is just gossip at this point! Happy Sailings! :)

Colo Cruiser Posted December 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Just curious, what do they do with the crew while the ship is in dry dock? They are all assigned to assist with duties onboard, no vacation time. :)
RickEk Posted December 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2008 They are all assigned to assist with duties onboard, no vacation time. :) Well, they usually get a deck party one evening whilst the ship is on the way to drydock. Or so I've heard...

Colo Cruiser Posted December 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 21, 2008 This drydock for the crown was only for 2 weeks wasnt it? That is a long time for a ship in drydock. They can get so much done in that period of time.

I always thought the drydocks were longer. Amazing though, I never heard of a ship taking longer for a drydock. Looking forward to hearing those reviews of those who sail this Sunday. rickcop44 Posted December 22, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 22, 2008 SERENE: Hey, aren't you in E731 on the February 8 Crown cruise? My missus and I are in that cabin for the February 22 sailing. Post a note when you get back and let me know if they did anything to the cabin, if you would please.

hightownCO Posted December 22, 2008 #17 Share Posted December 22, 2008 I did see that! Yeah only 6 days to go. Thanks for posting the webcam so nice to see given it feels like 0 outside.
unboringuy Posted December 22, 2008 #18 Share Posted December 22, 2008 There were a couple of issues noted in the CDC VSP that were listed as having to be corrected during dry dock. I was surprised that she only scored a 95 on the last inspection, as she is a relatively new ship. Most of the newer ships score in the high 90s or even 100. Taking a passenger ship out of service for 2 weeks is really unheard of unless there is major engine/machine work to be done such as the CB. :)

CruisinMaterial Posted December 22, 2008 #22 Share Posted December 22, 2008 That could be. ;) I would hope it's not something more than that. I don't want the lights going out mid-way through the cruise. That would totally stink! Although who says a ghost ship can't be fun?
