Another Beach Question

Not sure where the all inclusive's are but for a great beach (with clear water) that is "on your own" I would recommend the Castillo. It is about 11 km south of town (about a 15 minute taxi ride from the town). It gives you a chance to drive further south and see more of Costa Maya and the Castillo is usually quiet, relaxing, and offers food, drinks and a beautiful beach setting. When we were there in Nov/Dec they were playing great "beach" music in the open air bar area and on the beach. There were lots of padded lounger chairs, some umbrella tables along the beach, a beach volleyball area. A small group of cruise jungle tours came by for a short beach break but it was a quiet and relaxing experience. Were able to use the bathrooms/showers and enjoyed speaking to the Austrian owner, Peter. This is a great way to spend the day getting away from it all and truely feeling like your are on a caribbean beach! There is no "fee" to enjoy the facilities for the day. The food was fantastic - especially the garlic shrimp tacos!!! Their website is www.hotel-castillo.com
