I suppose it depends on what you want out of your cruise. Do you do ship excursions? Do you want the best snorkeling water? Do some research on the ports-of-call to learn all you can ahead of time. Veendam is a great ship and the crew is truly exceptional...but...the ship really does need its refit/refurb in April. If you can put off cruising it until after April I would do so...it'll be like a brand new ship!! As far as itineraries are concerned I have to back what 510picker said...research the itineraries to match what you need to get out of the ports to make your cruise what you would like it to be.
