Merry Christmas from the snowy Northwest. Special greetings to Jim and family, who must be feeling especially blessed! Due to the road conditions and continuing snowfall, we're staying put today and won't be able to pick up my mother from her retirement apartment and take her to dinner with friends. She'll have a nice Christmas buffet with her fellow residents and won't feel like young Ebenezer Scrooge, who was left at school during Christmastime. It helps that she's California-born and -bred, so snow is to be admired from the window, especially at age 87. We'll do our gift exchange on Saturday, after the rain washes all this pretty (and treacherous) snow away.
