Fantasy Christmas Cruise

What dock did the Fantasy dock at in Cozumel? How much was a taxi downtown? Per person or per cab?

We were on the Fantasy last January and we docked at the downtown pier, but I think I've read the Fantasy is now docking at the Puerta Maya pier, since it was rebuilt. Thanks.

Also, how was the casino hosts: Amber and Denver??

The Carnival pier is now open (Puerto Maya)....

We docked there on the Freedom last month.

We will be docking there on the Fantasy next week (woo hoo!!!)

Taxi into town used to be $5 for a taxi of up to 4 people....but they had a fare increase 4 weeks ago...so it may be a little more now.

But it is for the TAXI (not person).

Lots of shops are reopened there at the pier like before.

We are hiring a taxi for 3 hours this time and doing the East side of the island. We go to Cozumel several times a year and this will be our first trip to the "other side".

Something else I wanted to add. This is the first cruise we went on and had free alcohol everyday. I don’t know if it's just during the holidays, but it was great. I know it sounds crazy, but I have been thinking about it and here is how we received it.

Sail away – Unlimited Champagne on the Lido deck and free Liquor tasting that night in front of the Univeral Lounge.

1st Sea day – Captains Cocktail Party/More Unlimited Champagne before Formal night by the Casino.

Progreso – Past Guest Party

Cozumel – Free Egg Nog on Lido deck with or without alcohol, also that night unlimited wine table set up by the lobby bar on Empress Deck.

Last Sea day – That night unlimited wine table set up by the lobby bar on Empress Deck.

The Fantasy is now docking at Puerta Maya. Taxi costs are supposed to be for the cab, not the person. Taxis to the Forum Shops are $6 for 1-4 passengers, but that is for the smaller taxis. If you get a taxi van, they charge $14 for the entire van.

Thanks for the pics and information. We would like to go in April 09.

Has anybody ever got a taxi and went to Chauckanob Park (sorry sp)

and had enough time to do an excursion with the dolphins.

Last year we did one thru carnival and it was great. It just used up the whole day. I would like to go on my own, but I did not know if there would be any openings left for people who don't make reservations.

Thanks to anyone who can help with experiences.

Your pics are great. Is the waterpark/slides kid friendly. I have a 9 yr old. That yellow one looks scary.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but thought I'd add a few comments since we were on the same cruise. This was our first time on Fantasy, and first 5-night cruise (previously on Conqest 7night, and other cruise lines). The areas on Fantasy that had been updated such as new carpet in some of the public areas was VERY NICE. Our room carpet was still very old and very stained and got white socks dirty very fast! Unfortunately, I did get whiffs of 'the smell" several times during the cruise. It was never persistent or overwhelming, but was discouraging to have that aroma mar the relaxation and flavor of the vacation.

We found the food okay but sub-par to previous cruises, and the water to some our party had an odor. For the first time, waiters at our dinner table were offering to sell the tall bottles of bottled water, and would put your name on it and bring it back out the next night for you. I don't know if this just a Fantasy thing, or something new on all cruises since a year ago.

Progresso - read alot of varying opinions on this one before we sailed since this would be our first time there. We all found it disappointing. Nice to have access to the Mayan ruins (we hired a private taxi to take us to Dzibilchaltan) and got dropped at the public beach for lunch/shopping afterwards. During our 1.5 hour lunch, got 15-20 offers from vendors - hard to say "NO" nicely that many times. Recommend eating in the restaurant instead of the beach, the ambiance wasn't worth the frustration. Le Saint Bonnet does have great food, BTW.

Cozumel - Carrie at ***** set us up with a private snorkel tour and the guys couldn't have been nicer. There were 2 snorkel guides plus a boat driver for the 6 of us. WOW!! Saw 3 different snorkel areas with lots more coral and fish than we saw last year at Chankanaab. Got dropped at Paradise Beach for the afternoon and the teens enjoyed the water toys and bunjee trampoline. Adults enjoyed the lounge chairs, margaritas, food and nice water.

I was afraid 5 nights would seem WAY too short compared to 7, but it was okay. This cruise was a bargain, especially since they gave the fuel credit as OBC. All in all, it was a great Christmas gift to each other, for my family to be able to spend time together. Any questions, ask away.

Hate to even bring it up...

BUT....did you get your fuel surcharge back as an OBC? We cruise later this week and I'd love to hear that the credits are actually being applied, byt someone who received it.

Thanks

Yes, full credit was on S&S card.

Hi,

We have been on other ships where they have a bridge cam that plays video of the outside/front area of the ship on the cabin televisions. I was wondering if the Fantasy had this as well - it really is nice when you are in an inside cabin - it gives to a "window to the world"!

We loved your pictures - they are wonderful.

Those are great pics. Fantasy was our first Carnival cruise and we loved her. I want to go on her again now that she has had the EOF renovations.

Looking at your crew picture...wow Big Tex has lost some weight since I saw him last. Here how I remember him.

KCarp,

We leave on Thursday. How was the parking? Any hassles? We live just south of BR.

I plan to leave around 9am or so. My wife wondered if the ship was cold. Any other suggestions?

Scott

We left at 8:00am and parking went easy. You give your luggage up on the 3 floor, then you park on the 4th floor. Checkin is on the 2nd floor. We were in the first group to board the ship. The temps were cold the day we left and my GF found the ship to be very cold. I also found it quite cool. The terminal was freezing inside. Felt like the AC was blasting...lol

LHP,

Are you going the East Side tour with Gerry or Lazaro??

We did this with Lazaro on our December Inspiration cruise. OMG...he was absolutely wonderful! We had originally planned on only 3 hours, but were having such a good time with him we ended up with 5 hours. He was more than happy to stop along the road to let us get out on the coral formations to catch pictures of good waves. And at El Mirador, he helped us climb around and take pictures..he even took tons of pictures on his own camera. It was a great way to see the "other" side of the island.

Hello, you are my neighbor. We live in the same town. We are leaving next Sat. Hope you have a great time!

KCarp, I am loving your pictures. Thanks for posting.

I have a question about debarkation. Since our cabin is on the Empress deck and my DH is in a wheelchair, do you remember if that entire deck becomes congested with passengers trying to self-disembark? I would love to be last off the ship but need to plan appropriately for wheelchair debarkation. Do you still have your Capers with the information regarding wheelchair debarkation? If so, can you let me know about wheelchair debarkation?

This is the first time that we are traveling as a fulltime wheelchair passenger and I'm a little nervous about all the logistics involved.

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi sunsetsand,

We did the self-disembark and the Empress deck was called first. We were out the door and leaving the ship at 7:00am and were in our car driving home between 7:30-8:00am

Sorry I can't help with the wheelchair debarkation, but here is a link with current capers. Have a nice cruise! :)
