gadgetgeezer Posted December 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Hi, We are going on our first cruise April/May 09 (12 nights around the Med - Southampton to Southampton) on the Queen Victoria. We are a bit confused as to which currency we should take with us....the Cunard Brochure says on-board is the US Dollar, but we've also seen on various websites that it is the GB Pound or Euro. Is someone able to advise? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

You will be required to register your credit card when you board, and after that all purchases are made using your cruise card. As Bob says, the currency on board is the US Dollar. For shoreside purchases it's possible to change your currency at machines onboard the ship but the rate of exchange is, to say the least, a total rip off. Better to use your credit card ashore. You may want to consider taking a small quanity of Euros with you for small cash purchases ashore such as the odd cup of coffee or postcards etc. Looking forward to meeting you as I think we are on the same cruise.
