DMorris Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Hi, Has anyone been to the Hato Caves while in Curacao???? How was it? How far is it from the pier? How do you get there? Was it worth it to go to? Would like to hear about your experience. Thanks for your input. SF Posted April 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2004 We visited the caves while sailing on Brilliance. We took a private tour of the area and that was one of the stops. It was really interesting and our guide really gave us a lot of information. In one part we saw bats and the formations are amazing. It does get stuffy and warm the further back you go but if I remember correctly they did have some fans at certain parts. In my opinion it's definitely worth taking the time to check them out. I don't remember how far it was from where we docked so I can't help you with that. You're best bet is to hire a taxi at the pier to take you on a tour and ask him to stop there. I forgot the cost of the entrance fee but it wasn't to much. Hope this helps you out. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004><param name="month" value=07><param name="day" value=17><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Navigator of the Seas 7/17/2004 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004><param name="month" value=12><param name="day" value=26><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Jewel of the Seas 12/26/2004 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2005><param name="month" value=02><param name="day" value=26><param name="hour" value=17><param name="minute" value=00> </applet> Caribbean Princess 2/26/2005
BrianSBC Posted April 22, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2004 We visited the caves when we sailed on the AOS. We just grabbed a cab from the pier and they dropped us off there. There were always cabs there to take you back to the pier so you coud take your time in the caves. It was really interesting. We also visited the caves in PR. You do need to wait until the main cab rush is over as most cabs are vans and they want to totally fill them up with people going to the same place. It took a while before things slowed down enough where a driver would take only two people to the other side of the island where the caves are. sangoofy Posted April 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2004 BrianSBC- Do you remember approx. how long it took to get to caves by taxi? We are traveling with a group of 11, 3 of our group are doing the dolphin swim (3 hrs) so the rest of us were thinking of checking out the caves for awhile, then going back and hanging on the Seaquarium beach where we would meet up with the other 3. BrianSBC Posted April 22, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2004 If I remember right it was about 8 miles and took maybe 15 minutes. I think the cost was $5 USD per person.
