A couple from our group took the Carnival tour, somewhere around $69 pp, I believe. That entitled them to drinks and lounge chair and the resort pool in addition to beach.

The rest of our group took the taxi from the port. Five of us for $60 round trip to the beach for 2hr.( that came out to be $12 pp rt) We were told we could rent thatch hut umbrella and lounge chairs for $5 each, however by the time we arrived there were no chairs available. The shop owners on the beach gave us their white plastic chairs to sit on and found us a tree that provided some shade.... no charge for either. The taxi driver spoke English and was on time to pick us back up and return us to the ship. There is a restaurant and restrooms on the public beach. The water was beautiful. If traveling with youngsters be aware that bathing suit tops are optional.

We just did this excursion through Carnival Splendor Jan. 3/09 and it was great! At first we were hesitant about the early time, hoping for something a bit later. After the half hour bus ride we hit the beautiful beach, the sun came out, and it was hot, hot, hot! The water was warm and there were plenty of beach chairs. The resort's activity staff were getting people going, face paint, darts, music, mini Olympics. By 9:30 we had our first round of Bahama Mama's and never looked back. Aerobics in the ocean has never been more fun. Dance lessons on the beach! Frozen margaritas and Cai-Parhinas (sp?) the national drink of Brazil, rounded out our drinks menu. Hubby and other from our ship enjoyed the pool despite it not being included. Fun, fun, fun in the Dominican! Go for it!

Got off the Grand Princess yesterday and did this excursion through Princess.

Bus ride there was a bit long (30 minutes) and was concerrned about no lounges. Princess we found out reserved 200 lounges and only 50 did the tour. 2 bus loads. Get to beach first as you may want shade. I didn't but saw others concerned and it was great. A tour operator stays with you from hotel and serves you drinks any time you ask or go to the bar. Bar opens at 10am.

Yes some topless but nice to see young flesh as our ship was a touch on the older side.

Bus ride back went real quick as it was a party coming back but couldn't get the driver to stop for more beer. LOL

Would I do it again? YES YES YES....
