Can anyone compare Mr. Sanchos and Nachi Cocum

My husband and I did a RCCI Caribbean cruise last Jan and we went to Nachi. I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time so unable to enjoy the all-u-can-drink (DH made up for that) but did enjoy the resort and food. We are going back to Cozumel this time on MSC, and from some of the poor reviews, I am worried that this stop may be our only good food for the week :) Can anyone comapre Nachi and Mr. Sanchos for me? I read that Mr. S is $40 for adults and $30 for kids (not sure what ages of kids) for the all conclusive, but have not verrified this with the agent yet. Nachi is $49 for adults and $12 for 3 of our 5 kids (I think they charge $12 for anyone over 3yo). This time we are cruising with my parents and our kids (5 of them) are ages 4 mos, 2yrs, 3yrs, 4yrs, and 5 1/2 yrs. I am not sure which would be a better experience for us. I loved that Nachi was quiet in terms of the number of people. We sunned ourselves and swam in the ocean. The pool was cool but refreshing, and since I was pregnant we did not try the hot tub, although I have read in reviews of both places that the hot tubs are far from hot. We did speak with a couple at Nachi who had their children with them and it seemed like they were having a good time. Obviously our kids won't be drinking any alcohol, and we will not be drinking a ton since we will be watching them. How is MR. Sanchos for young children?

I only have a few days to decide as we sail on 1 /24. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

J

We just went to Mr. Sanchos last week on New Year's Eve. There were several small children there playing on the beach, but there were also several empty tables, so not too crowded. We thought it was a very nice place with the pool, ping pong table, clean bathrooms and a little shopping. We did not do the all inclusive but ended up paying about the same if we had. We did have 5 adults drinking beer and margaritas and two older kids with all of us eating a full meal with two or three shared appetizers. With your group having so many small children, I think not doing the all inclusive would be quite a bit cheaper for you.

BTW, we also did pararsailing for $50 each and the kids rode the ATV's for $30 each. They also had snorkeling and horseback riding.

We brought our own gear but I know they do sell gear right there for about $15-20. I think the cost to snorkel from a boat that takes you to Palancar Reef was about $35 per person.

I guess the snorkeling right off the beach is not that good. I didn't go, but my kids did and had alot of fun anyway. I heard the best thing to do when in Cozumel is take a boat trip. I wish we would have!

We had a group of ten at Nachi last week. I would not go back. It started out wrong as our escort to our beach spot swiped loungers away from a wealth yacht owner who had docked at Nachi. The Aldora Yacht owner became ticked and threatened to take his business elsewhere. The Nachi employee explained that we had paid reservations. The yacht owner's group was then giving disapproving glances our way as if to say, "why are such peasants being given our chairs?" As you can imagine, this was not a nice welcome to our "Beach Break."

The food and drinks were decent but the sales pitching made me uncomfortable. Our group paid $373 for the all-inclusive rate for 5 children and 5 adults. We also booked para sailing for a tandem ($90) and banana boat rides for 6 for $12 a person. They kept trying to get us to snorkel too. I just wanted to be served drinks from the comfort of my lounger...that didn't happen. He only came around twice. My kids kept trying to go to the bar to get Cokes but they would only serve them at our beach spot.

Do you all tip these workers with each drink delivery? We only tipped at the end. Maybe that is why they didn't come around very often.

When we went last month, we tipped our server (Manuel) at the very end. For us, I noticed that he started out great at the beginning, but by lunch time he made himself pretty scarce. I had a difficult time getting the last drink that I requested (around 1 or so) and we ended up leaving around 2:30.

To the OP - we took our three kids (4, 6, & 8) and I know that they enjoyed it. They played in the pool and the ocean. There were less than 20 people the day we were there and it was very quiet and peaceful. We were approached once by both the picture taker and the snorkel/parasail guy trying to sell their stuff.

Honestly, although we enjoyed our day there, I wasn't overly impressed. The food was OK (not wonderful) and the service started out strong, but dropped by lunch time. For the price we paid (3 adults and 3 kids), I just didn't think it was worth it. I think next time we will probably go somewhere else that isn't all inclusive.
