MIDWESTCRUIZER Posted January 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2009 We are sailing next week and just checked weather forecast in the bahamas and it shows rain off and on...wonder if it's anything like midwest - changes by the minute? Or it's more than likely going to rain?
WaterView2 Posted January 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Rain is fairly common in The Bahamas. In the winter, it is usually of the more widespread frontal type, which can hang around but often blows through. In the summer, it is more scattered thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon. I wouldn't be too concerned.
MIDWESTCRUIZER Posted January 8, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks...I posted in the wrong thread...oh well I guess this mean's I'm tired and need to get to bed. Crossing my fingers hoping it doesn't rain!
JanineM Posted January 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2009 It looks like you're sailing next Monday. I just took a took at the long-range forecast and one site says 20% chance of rain each day, the other shows a lower chance of rain. You might want to bring along something you can throw on in case there is a pop-up shower - even one of those plastic rain ponchos. But it doesn't look like there is a big storm system moving in or anything (KNOCKING WOOD!!!)
cb at sea Posted January 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2009 There's a chance of rain EVERY day in the tropics....if it does rain, it's usually a short shower, and it'll still be warm....
onceagain Posted January 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Don't worry about it, I used to watch weather forecasts and get all worried when it said rain. If it does rain it may do so for about 5 minutes. One year whit showed rain every day, all day - I think we got about 15 minutes total for the entire week. Nothing you can do about it anyway. :)
krystalkruzer Posted January 11, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Been there 3 times in as many years and no rain.
karen sharpe Posted January 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I hate to be full of Doom And Gloom and I absolutely love the Bahamas but the chance of rain or at least cloudy days inter dispersed with sun is very likely. It can also be quite windy and cool at this time of year so pack a hoody and some warm long pants.
