EAGLESLOVER Posted January 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2009 Has this recent earthquake impacted cruise ships?
Rare LHT28 Posted January 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2009 Since it happened yesterday it would be hard to say right now.
dst Posted January 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2009 We will be in Costa Rica on the 21st and have a private tour set up. I emailed them to see if everything was alright. I have not heard back from them and no changes yet to our itinerary. If I hear anything, I'll post back here
rockymo Posted January 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2009 The American Embassy issued a notice that the earthquake had stranded some people (Americans among them) at the Poas Volcano site and the LaPaz waterfall area overnight. I believe that there were injuries and one death there. Since the volcanoe and waterfall are among tours that the cruise ships go to from Punterenas, I have to assume that those tours will be put on hold. The alert says that as of Sat. the 10th there were still aftershocks being felt in the region. I have not heard if any of the tourists affected were cruise ship passengers. I also am interested because we have a cruise coming up and Punterenas is one of our stops.
