Nan-L Posted November 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2004 There are to be 9 ships in port the day we are in, was thinking of going to Playa del Carmen, but if I can find a quiet spot near by w/o taking the ferry it would be great. Any ideas??? Looking for something family/w/snorkeling would be great!
betsyrossapk Posted November 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2004 Renting a car & traveling over to the east side of the island will be more quiet. Although I have heard that it is not a safe to snorkel over there, you could snorkel at one of the beaches along the southern coast & then head over . We had 4 ships in town when we were there & didn't have a problem.
solita Posted November 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2004 There are a couple of places that have roped off areas that it is safe to snorkel...Chin Rio and I think Playa Bonita both do. Please watch out for the currents and undertows in other places along the East side though. Coconuts is a great place to eat for lunch while you are over there. Enjoy. betsyrossapk Posted November 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2004 I will attest to that. Had a great meal @Coconuts. I am still mad at myself, I forget to use my discount coupon :(
Island Annie Posted November 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2004 Nan L, Where are you finding how many ships are in port on any given day? Can you please post the address here? I'd love to see who all will be in town on March 3. Thanks. Annie

Orleanstar Posted November 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2004 Nan: Each port usually has it's own web page, but a good "comprehensive" mentioned on these boards is: http://www.cruisecal.com/dnn/ for which thanks must go to CC'er bs_kc. It's a great resource, and we should all support it. All the best Scott
