Carnival Sensation

Typical Fantasy-class ship, a bit Las Vegas" glitzy, the purple decor isn't bad at all. Consider booking after Sensation has completed at least several cruises after her Jan/Feb refurbishment, as you'll get the Evolutions upgrade, more balconies, probably new rugs and clean-up, and will have had several cruises to finish unfinished work and "get the bugs out". kwen

Thank you for the info! My other question is are there hair dryers in the staterooms?

Thanks again :)

I've been told that if you'd like a hairdryer all you have to do is ask your room steward. I'm really looking forward to seeing the rennovations to this ship.

We reluctantly booked our last cruise on the Sensation during spring break, I say reluctantly, because we had just sailed on the Imagination and knew how lovely the upgraded Fantasy class ships were and didnt know if we would enjoy going back to the basics, we were pleasantly suprised that between the food, the shows, and the service, we enjoyed this cruise more. We are booked again this year and are looking forward to having a great cruise with an updated look!

I agree about her needing the upcoming renovations. My only real gripe when I was on her last time was how worn the cabins had gotten. Not that its anything that anyone can control, but she will certainly benefit from the new remodeling. I really like how the cabins look on the Fantasy class ships that have had the upgrades.

I agree, I was really disappointed by the shape of the furniture and the tile in the showers, she was past ready for this refurb. I was kinda embarrassed as we brought along a lot of first time cruisers, but luckily they didnt complain and are hooked to cruising now, like I said everything else about the cruise was fantastic, and the only time we were in the rooms was to sleep and get ready for dinner. I really like the new upgrades as well, and the public restrooms on the Imagination were a big step up from how they used to be.

We're thinking about booking the Carnival Sensation - what can you tell me about the ship? Thanks!

I would definitely wait until the refurbishment is completed in February.

I sailed on the Sensation a couple of years ago and had a great time but the ship does need to be refurbished. I sailed on the Imagination, Inspiration, and Fascination and they have all been redone and they

look fabulous.

Last Sept. the food in the main dining room was great , the buffet led a little to be desired --- always around the drink fountains there was this awful sour smell , although I am hoping that will be gone after the re-furb. Shows were pretty good , casino is not , at least while we were on was not overly crowded . The rooms (we had an oceanview aft ) was a little worn but very livable . There was no mini fridge like the larger ships , although there is room for one . I did run into three staff members onboard whom had served us onboard the Liberty , they remembered us and even asked if my parents were onboard , I really like those guys ,made the trip even better . I am going to schedule a cruise on her aroung the end of Feb I think, the only thing I hate , is the debarkation process , they call numbers , So I suggest the night before debarkation go to pursers desk and try to get #'s 3 thru 6 , get off much faster .

Feb 12th is the first cruise date after the refurb I believe .

We booked for the 3 day Bahama cruise departing the 12th, had no idea that it was the first cruise after the refit.

Carnival called last night and asked if we wanted to try one of the new cabins for $60, said yes so we shall see !

My wife and I were on the Sensation for a 4-nighter On Oct 26, 2008. We had a verandah room and it was very nice. T

he service was excellent especially our waiters in the MDR (Pankaj and Dimitri). Our waiters were absolutely phenomenal! Food was good. The ship does need to be renovated because it was looking a bit aged and we could tell even though it was our first cruise.

Putting cosmetic issues aside it was a great cruise and got us hooked. My only complaints are the photographers were everywhere. They were pleasant and took no for an answer but it got a bit annoying when you are constantly saying no. Also, they opened up the viewing area for your cruise pictures in the Atrium just before the late dining hour. We had to wade through a ton of people each night just to get to dinner. Then we had to walk the long line of photographers asking if you want your picture taken. They were lined up every five feet.

The excursions we did were awesome. We did the kayak/snorkeling adventure on Freeport. Freeport was not very nice but the excursion made up for it. Nassau was very nice. Due to weather, wind was very bad, we were unable to do our glass bottom boat tour but the money was refunded. We also did the discover SCUBA diving tour which was really fun.

Overall, no complaints about the trip because we were able to overlook minor things to have an incredibly fun overall experience. I would love to see the ship after the renovations.
