Rare TPKeller Posted January 17, 2009 #27 Share Posted January 17, 2009 If you load up my Charleston Cruise Map, you will be able to see where the terminal is located in relation to all the other major landmarks and some tourist attractions. flashdog_1 Posted January 17, 2009 #28 Share Posted January 17, 2009 Hey AWinkler, does the Holiday Inn Riverview offer a package deal for cruise passengers? We used to stay in North Charleston and leave our cars there, but last time we were there, the hotel was in very bad shape. We want to find a place closer to the port. I know you can park your cars at the dock, but the hotel we did stay at really gave us a good deal, but we were very disappointed in it. How much is parking at the dock? We like to go down to Charleston the day before and enjoy the city. Thank you After seeing these pics, I am really getting excited about the cruise May 9th to Bermuda. We went to Bermuda last May, and really enjoyed Bermuda alot. A beautiful place to visit and so different from the Caribbean. Thank you Radio for your updates!!! Courtyard Marriott lets you leave your car all week. No charge. No package. And Safety Taxi will take you to the port for $5.
ChampionCruiser Posted January 17, 2009 #29 Share Posted January 17, 2009 Thanks in advance! I'm really excited to "cruise with you" again on the Majesty!! I've been on plenty of newer and "glitzier" ships than the Majesty but she will always be my favorite....it's hard to explain but I think I will always have a nostalgic feeling towards her... Rare Radio Posted January 18, 2009 Author #31 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Hello everyone. . . We had a slight delay leaving Charleston today. It seems that a passenger was injured while boarding the ship, and had to be sent to a Charleston Hospital. The Captain waited until a little after 5 for us to leave so the passenger can re board after being treated. Sail away was VERY COLD. . . We were told it was 29f. It was unusual to see passengers bundled up in coats, gloves and earmuffs. There was no Caribbean Band playing but there were a few brave souls who were out on deck for sail away. My Cabin Attendant (Orlando) has suggested that on Monday we will see warm weather ! ! That would be great for me. . .I am looking forward to Great Stirrup Cay as I have never been there, and I have heard many positive reviews on the island. It time for the Welcome aboard show, but here are a few pics from sail away. Thanks for all of the nice comments, and thanks for tuning in. Radio Passengers on Board by 330 Cold Muster Drill Passengers Bundled up A very steep Gangway. . . The USS Yorktown, and the Charleston Harbor Marina We are ready to go now. . .lets go ! . Kwynot Posted January 18, 2009 #33 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Whaaaaa...I wanna go too. The photo you took of the folks standing along the rail during sail-away looked like it was literally in motion itself. Very scary. Enjoy GSC. We were there on the Gem back in December & it was very nice & relaxing!

Say goodbye to the cold, Radio. Great pix so far! Hi Luvdale! The Holiday Inn Riverview does allow you to keep your car there for the week. You'll be shuttled to the ship with many others who stay there. There really isn't a cruise deal, and it's not the cheapest at around $180/nt. AAA, "buy it now" price. You're very close to the Historical district, and there's a shuttle that will take you there every hour or so. There are cheaper hotels and most allow your car to stay. I'd like to stay at the Embassy Suites North Charleston as it's a better deal, but they were booked when I checked. Please forgive the hijacking folks. :)
dwdwnurse Posted January 18, 2009 #35 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Hey Radio, Love the pics! I know you're ready for warmer weather :) Since you can't go out on the bow of the ship for sailaway...where do you recommend going for sailaway? Five more months...oh, will it ever get here?! Rare Radio Posted January 19, 2009 Author #49 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Hello everyone. I woke early today, and it was nice to go up on deck to feel that it was going to be a great day. The sun was coming up, and was much much warmer than it was 24hrs earlier. I went to the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet, and I will tell you that it was one of the nicest Cruise Critic meetings I have ever attended. It started out by being introduced to the Hotel Director, Brian Williams and Food and Beverage Manager Ivo Belev. I was then able to meet our CD, Denny Anderson, and the Concierge, Florentina Popa. It was easy to see that these employees wanted to make sure that the passengers would be well taken care of, well fed, and pampered. They really set a foundation for the service that we would be receiving this week. A Cruise Critic meet and greet Gift Exchange was introduced by a Cruise Critic member during our Roll Call several weeks ago. We all brought something from our home City/Town ($10.max gift), and we would exchange the gifts during our M/G. It brought together a lot of conversation, and laughs. It was great to match a face with a Screen Name for our cruise. Thanks Cruise Critic, for having the “Roll Call “ boards. I had a great lunch at Le Bistro today, and the Crab and Shrimp Gumbo and Crab Cakes were very good. Tonight is one of 2 Lobster nights we are having this week. NCL is also having Monte Carlo Night which will have entertainment ,music and NCL Freestyle Showgirls in the Casino tonight. I took a nap today, so I should be able to stay up for it. (1045PM) We should be anchored at Great Stirrup Cay tomorrow morning by 7AM. The forecast is calling for sunny skies warm temps (78f), and a slight breeze. Sorry I wasn’t able to log in earlier, but there is not wi-fi in my cabin, and I can only find a signal on Deck 5. I am on Deck 9AFT, where there is supposed to be a wiifi signal, but not for me. I was spoiled last cruise on Majesty, because I had a great signal from my cabin (Deck 7 FWD) Here are a few pics from today. . . Thanks for tuning in. Radio Early Morning on Majesty The ship was quiet this morning The sun was out and I am happy ! Looking AFT at Smooth Seas Outside of the Frame 52 Disco This is the view from my Cabin. . .Not Bad ! The sun comes in, and I can still see the water ! .
