This is our first RCI cruise and I would like to know how many dining rooms there are that do not have an extra charge. We have been on the Disney where they rotated dining rooms and on Princess where you choose the dining rooms.

None of the main dining rooms on RCI ships carry an extra charge.

 

The specialty restaurants do, like Chops and Portofino. There is an additional charge for Johnny Rockets as well.

All RCCL ships have the Windjammer, which is a buffet but very suitable for dinner. Other free venues, depending on what ship you are on, are the Seaview cafe, Sorrentos Pizza, Solarium cafe, Promenade cafe, Compass Deli, and more. Room service is 24/7. Pool Deck barbecues in the evening are very common. You really have to name your ship, so we can give you more help. If you prefer not to eat in the main dining room, don't worry, you won't go hungry.

There are no specialty restaurants (Chops or Portofino) on Monarch. The main dining rooms and Windjammer have no additional charge, and the only place I believe there is a extra charge for dining is the sushi restaurant Jade.

On Monarch, you will have your choice of the casual buffet (WindJammer), the main dining room with assigned seating at dinner, and Jade, which is the totally-not-worth-it pay sushi place.
