Tortola Taxis

Travelling on the Dawn soon and we were wondering if there are taxis waiting at both Cane Garden Bay & Brewers Beach to take you back to the cruise Port in Tortola?

Brewer's Bay looks rather quiet and not much more than one small restaurant (Im sure it wont be quiet while we are in Port!) , but still want to ensure that flagging a taxi back won't be too difficult.

Thanks.

We were at Brewer's bay last march and there were not even 40 people there, with 2 ships in port. Arrange with the taxi that takes you there to take you back. You can't count on taxis waiting there.

Cane Garden bay is different... lots more bars, etc and there will be taxis waiting there to take you back.

Check the Destination forum here on Cruise Critic for Tortola to learn lots more. Here is the link:

I just got off the Jewel on the 18th. We hired a taxi to take us to Brewers Bay. There were only a dozen people on the beach, and the restaurant/pub is the only thing there. Did some snorkeling, but was a bit disappointed. The water was a little choppy which made for bad viewing on the reef. We saw tons of little fish on the reef, but the bigger fish were much farther out and close to a bunch of rocks. We stayed there for just over 2 hours and Our Taxi driver just waited at the restaurant for us. He said taxis don't go there unless they have an arrangement to pick someone up. It's a beautiful beach and we loved that we had it to ourselves. Hope this is helpful!

We were at Tortola in Jan on the Gem. We booked the catamaran sail and snorkel and it was great. The crew was wonderful. We went to Norman's Island for snorkeling for a while and then zipped over to Peter's Island so you could go beach combing or snorkeling again. The snorkeling was great at both places and it was fun to sail around between the islands and Tortolla. Well worth the money if you are interested in snorkeling.

At Cane Garden Bay the taxi are all lined up. They know that most of the people on the beach are from the ship and need to get back by a certain time. The taxi that takes you always offers to meet you back at whatever time you want. We have never had a problem there. It is a beautiful beach. The ride to CGB is very scenic up and down the mountain. You can get great pictures.
