hototo Posted January 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Has anyone been on the NCL Jewell in St. Petersburg where they have brought on a Russian Folkloric group to perform? We are considering going out at night but would savethe money if show on board.
Shadowstar Posted January 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2009 We were on the Jewel last Summer. We saw the show on the TV after we returned from our live show in St. Petersburg. What we saw was far superior and did not compare to the show on the ship.
Rare TLCOhio Posted January 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2009 We were on the Jewel last Summer. We saw the show on the TV after we returned from our live show in St. Petersburg. What we saw was far superior and did not compare to the show on the ship. We had a nice show on our ship in August, but by nature and given stage and timing limitations, it is not going to be the bigger "REAL THING". BUT, it was very enjoyable and a nice, unexpected PLUS. Below is a picture. It's like a bite of ice cream versus a full sundae. One is better than the other, but both are better than nothing. Very talented singers, dancers and music players in our group during is approximate 20 minute show. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
missbsmom Posted January 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Does anyone know if Princess also brings on local entertainers during their overnight stay in St. Petersburg? We are sailing on the 5/26 sailing on the Emerald. Doing 2 full days of independent tours with Alla. We think by the end of day 1 we are going to be ready to return to the ship and kick back ( will need energy for day 2). Would like to see some local entertainment, but don't know how much energy we will have + the expense and time to return to the city. Thanks, Marcia
Ms. Alpha Posted February 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We were in St. Petersburg on the Royal Princess in July and although we did not have an overnight, we were in St. Petersburg till late evening (9 p.m. I think). We did have a folkloric group on board in the show lounge. The Royal has traditional dining only, but had open seating that night to accomodate those returning from late tours. As a previous poster said the show is limited by the facilites available, but it was a great "free sampler" of local music and dance. There was a 3 or 4 piece musical combo, 2 male singers that sang solo or with the group, as well as 2 different groups of dancers (one mail, one female). I think it lasted about an hour, but not DH's cup of tea, so we slipped out between numbers before it ended. It was a great bonus for us since we didn't have the option of an evening tour.
