faithers Posted February 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Can luggage be checked with the cruise line or somewhere at the pier before you’re ready to board the ship? We’ll be arriving in Vancouver early in the morning and want to see some of the city, but we don’t know what to do with our luggage. We’re cruising with Royal Caribbean and leaving from Ballantyne Pier. Thanks!
eh2zed Posted February 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Check directly with the cruiseline but normally you can drop off luggage properly tagged much earlier than boarding and then take off to do some sightseeing.
Putterdude Posted February 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2009 The ships arrive before 7 am so there are porters there at that time to handle baggage, checking it with them will not be a problem.

Does any one know about the opposite scenario? We will be docking early in Vancover and plan to stay over to see the city for a couple of days, but most check ins aren't until 2-3 pm. What should we plan to do with our luggage. This will not be a post cruise thru the cruise line, we will be doing this on our own. Is there specific hotels anyone know s that allow early check in? oilsand Posted February 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2009 there is luggage storage spot right at Canada place cruise pier, or most hotels that you will stay at will take your bags and store them until you check in later in the day.
Putterdude Posted February 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2009 I would do as oilsand has suggested however if you are staying in outlieing hotel then the luggage service at Canada Place is CDS Baggage Services: http://www.cdsbaggage.ca/CDS/Home.html

We’re cruising with Royal Caribbean and leaving from Ballantyne Pier. Ballantyne isn't really near anything else, so dropping your luggage there may not be particularly convenient. Also, if you arrive there in a cab to drop luggage, be prepared to wait with the 2000 people getting off to grab a cab away again. Where are you coming in from ? Glenn n Steven in SC Posted February 3, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2009 The ships arrive before 7 am so there are porters there at that time to handle baggage, checking it with them will not be a problem. So, there's no fear of luggage for the outbound afternoon departures being mixed/confused with that of pax debarking the ship that morning? Thx Glenn

Thx Glenn They bin them up completely seperate for each sailing so while anything is possible, it is not likely.
