Ft. Lauderdale after cruise, don't want a rental car

I have a late flight leaving out of FLL after my cruise. I'd like to spend the time on a nice beach somewhere, but what can I do with my luggage? and how can I get to a nice beach from port everglades?

Some cruiselines offer to transfer your luggage to the airport for you for a fee. Fort Lauderdale beach is really close to Port Everglades, maybe a $10-15 cab ride.

We also have a later flight out of FLL. We're sailing on the Carnival Miracle, and they have a program called luggage express, in conjunction with Southwest Airlines. When you get off the ship, their rep. takes your luggage, gives you your boarding pass and the next time you see your luggage is at your home airport. All this for only $20 each, for 2 bags.
