Cruise dock to Lahaina

I just want to walk around Lahaina, so I'm hesitant to rent a car even though they're so inexpensive in Hawaii. Is there a reasonably convenient way to get to Lahaina without renting a car?

Where do you dock at? LaHaina or Kahului? If LaHaina, it's very easy as there are shuttles running from the dock to LaHaina which actually is in walking reach. If Kahului, you would definitely have to rent a car to drive there, about 40 min. drive. Still worth it though!

Wolfshadow: Thank you. The itinerary says Lahaina.

Very doable then! Have a great time. Great shopping in La Haina, just a beautiful spot, too! I don't know if you have time for a luau but if you do, check out the Old La Haina Luau. It's just at the other end of town, there's also shuttle service. I had some cruise friends that did this last Sept while on their cruise and stopped in La Haina. It's a wonderful Luau and I have some video of it thru my pix link below, if you want to check it out! ;)

Lahaina does NOT have a cruiseship dock! The dock is just big enough for the tenders that bring passengers from where the ship is anchored. Renting a car two years ago was just so we could go down to the beach where we got married 20 years ago, but otherwise it was very hard to find parking anywhere near the town. You might enjoy going to the smaller part of the island where beaches are much wider and far less crowded. Be aware that when a ship unloads 2000-3000 passengers it will get crowded most everywhere, especially in Lahaina itself.
