schultz Posted February 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2009 We have a Verizon card. Haven't contacted them but wondered if they can be used when on the ship on sea days?
stevethepirate Posted February 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2009 My best guess is No. You still need a cell tower to connect. I don't recall seeing too many at sea.

I believe that you can BUT you are going to pay per minute phone rates of $2.49, it is not going to be included like at home. Best bet is to buy the 250 minute package for $100. Hint: Leave the computer at home and relax on the cruise.
twortman Posted February 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2009 I tried to use my internet card last April on the Valor and they had it blocked so it wouldn't work. I ended up buying minutes to use their WIFI service.
Jayhawk Posted February 7, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2009 I'll let you know when I get back next week. I have a Sprint card and am expecting I'll be able to use it when within range of the network (e.g. pulling out of PR, maybe the first day in St. Thomas, but that's it.) DaDivaMom Posted February 7, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Yes you can but you will have to pay cellular phone charges using the Carnival at sea program which is expensive. ManHo teaches online classes and had to release a quiz to his students on our last cruise. We purchased I think 100 minute plan, it was actually cheaper than if we had used our card. The connection is S---------LLLLL--------OOOOOOOO-------WWWWWWWW. Have fun!

Both are US territories so no additional charges so long as connected to Sprint towers and not Carnival cellular at sea or whatever it is called.
