CBowling Posted February 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2009 Can anyone tell me which of these locations would be best, and any way I can figure out what the possibilities are?? I can get a 3* in the Ft. Lauderdale Beach area for $71.00, a 3* in the Lauderdale by the Sea area for $53.00, or a 4* Resort on Hollywood Beach for $117.00. I will have 3 rooms the night before the cruise. I want something nice, but my main concern is cost effectiveness to the Port, and walking distance to good food. Any ideas??? CBowling Posted February 9, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted February 9, 2009 Thank you. Unfortunately the date on that thread is 2003. I am looking for current info. I am surprised that the site is not more up to date?
royalcruz Posted February 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2009 I think the post was originated in 2003 but is constantly updated because the information reflects new hotels.

Based on your main concerns you would be better off bidding on a 3 or 4 star in the Fort Lauderdale (Las Olas - Downtown - Port Everglades) area. Some of the beach hotels are far from the port, and some do not offer much in the way of restaurant choices outside of the hotels.
CBowling Posted February 10, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Thank you. I am still shopping. I have used Priceline before and always had good luck. This is my first Hotwire attempt.

I don't know of a 3* hotel in LBTS and have been there many times. It is far from the port so unless you have a reason to go there it will cost you a lot more in transportation. Personally I love it there. Has a small town feel and gives you an idea of what Florida looked like before all the big hotels were built. There is a very good choice of restaurants all within walking distance of the 'village'. If your main goal is cost effectiveness though you are best in Ft. Lauderdale Beach area. I have used Hotwire hundreds of times. Check with Betterbidding first and match your icons. You should be able to figure out your hotel before purchasing. 3* beach I got the Sheraton Yankee Clipper but there are other possiblities so check and match your icons.
