Cruising Alaska on a Budget

A great review.

And a bit of reminder that taking all the megabuck$$ tours is not required to enjoy your time.

Amen, Amen, Amen! :)

It would be a shame to cruise Alaska and not do one "big" tour like glacier copter tour, whale watching etc. but I had some clients when I was a TA who were on a tight budget, it was the vacation they'd dreamed of but had the willpower to stick with the budget.. they got some nice tours on the dock when they arrived etc. There is a wealth of info you can get on your own and have a wonderful time.. It's just not necessary to spend the big bucks... they came back as happy as the people who had spent a couple hundred a piece on tours..

Hi,

That's a very helpful website. I was thinking of driving from Skagway to White Pass and/or Carcross. I wanted to ask, can weather be a driving hazard ? I've heard that sometimes low clouds can reduce road visibility to almost zero.

Thanks,

Vaibhav.
