UK Car Rental Question

Hi All,

I know this is probably a very, very (did I mention very? :)) dumb question and I am probably just being paranoid, but here goes.....

I will be renting a car in late June to get from LHR to Southampton so that we can make a couple of stops along the way before our 6/27 Med cruise. So that I don't get totally lost I will have my trusty Garmin GPS with me all loaded up with the latest UK map. As I was sitting here going over some of my planning my girlfriend walks up and asks me "will your car adaptor for the GPS work there?" My first reaction was to say "why of course! Its only the regular house current that is different with different plugs, and I have adaptors for that!". Then I thought of the potential consequences of getting there and my adapor for the GPS not working....not the least of which would be hearing the "I told you to ask!!!!" for God knows how long  :)

So here I am, basically to safe myself a lot of grief, asking....does anyone know if power adaptors for car electrical devises that we use here in the US will work in a British vehicle?

Thanks in advance for saving me! :)

Yes it should fit ok. They were invented in the US.

As long as its the standard 21mm jack plug it will be ok.

If its the smaller size you can get an adapter very cheaply over here.

The only other type is the 6volt type. These are extremely rare these days.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks Davy - yes that's a big help. And it is the standard cigar lighter/power outlet 12-volt adaptor. Sounds like I should be fine :D
