Jan2007 Posted February 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Just wondering if it is possible to leave kids on the ship while you are in port in the kids club on Carnival? Since the beepers they give you only work on the ship, I hear, how would they be able to contact you?
jjlb Posted February 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I don't think they could contact you, UNLESS you gave a cell # and had with you perhaps. My son and DIL left our grandchild when we went to Saint Thomas. It was a well needed break for all, including the grandchild (he was 4 and spoke Germlish - (German/English) and was JUST FINE! amyh1028 Posted February 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2009 They have no way of contacting you, but yes you can leave your child onboard. I left my 6 year old daughter onboard when I went to Progresso last month as she refused to leave since Camp Carnival was making a volcano that day and she didn't want to miss it. I however was very nervous about doing so. I wondered the entire time therefore did not relax. She had a wonderful time so maybe on the November cruise I will not worry so much. caribbean dreams Posted February 19, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I have left my daughter at CC while shopping in port, she had a great time and was glad she was on the ship with other kids, rather than shopping with mom. The CC staff is trained, i fully trusted them with my daughter while i was off the ship.
yearnin4cruisin Posted February 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I've frequently left my youngest. Just make gosh darn sure you don't miss the ship!! If you're doing excursions, stick with early ones and those offered by Carnival.
kjunea Posted February 19, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2009 My son refused to leave camp carnival last summer on the Fantasy! I dragged him into Progresso with me (he was 5 then). All he kept saying was how he wanted to go back to Camp!! We eventually went back and I sat around the pool and he went to his camp. The next day at Cozumel, DH took the older kids to Paradise Beach, I went shopping and he stayed in Camp and had the best time! He says he can't wait to go to Camp again in May! gail811 Posted February 19, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Our son and DIL left our grandson twice on our last cruise. I believe Camp Carnival required them to be back an hour before sailing, so they planned accordingly. Our grandson was two at the time and LOVED his days at Camp Carnival! kdr69 Posted February 19, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2009 In four cruises the only time we take our son ashore is when we are doing a family beach day. Other than that aint no way we can tear him away from there.:D
vacation_junkie Posted February 19, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2009 we dragged our son into the first port..he whined the whole time. Hot... bored..etc...the last 2 stops he stayed on board with camp carnival and had a blast! My husband the guy who never leaves our son with anyone.won't evne let him go to kids in his classes birthday parties if its at their house...felt comfortable leaving him at Camp carnival! To my surprise..we did Disney a few months earlier and my son said he actually had more fun on the cruise!!!
cusyl Posted February 19, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2009 But, what if you miss the ship for some reason and your kids are onboard?
Jan2007 Posted February 19, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted February 19, 2009 With a two year old, it seems that Carnival is one of the few (if only) lines that will allow us to leave our kiddo with them at that age. And that's definitely important for the trip if we will be able to have childcare some of the time.
Stircrzy Posted February 19, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 19, 2009 But, what if you miss the ship for some reason and your kids are onboard? The ship officers are informed if there are any unaccounted for parents of Camp Carnival kids at sailing time....you'll hear announcements calling their names. If they don't answer the page, I guess they throw the kids overboard to be with their parents...

buddyjo143 Posted February 19, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I think they offer the children some sort of "kiddie crack". We don't/won't leave the nieces/nephew on board alone when we travel as a family but I can tell you that when we are on the ship those kids don't want to leave Camp Carnival. I swear they give them drugs or something.:p;)J/K
