Gift certificates for casino?

My dad is celebrating his 60th birthday onboard Grandeur of the Seas with my mother in April. My three sisters and I are trying to think of some good ideas that we can give him as gifts for the cruise since we won't be attending. He already knows about the cruise, because the entire family was supposed to instead be going to Vegas instead (his dream vacation), but due to the economy my mom is taking him alone on a cruise without any other family. (they live in Central Florida so drive-able from the port). Last year we all took my mother up to NYC for her 60th (her dream), so I don't want my dad to feel left out by us not going, and we are trying to think of some ideas. We will probably do some of the decorations and/or champagne and strawberries in the room, and I've read about the gift certificates but were curious if they can be used in the casino. It states that they can be used for most onboard purchases, etc. but does not mention the casino at all, including in the Terms & Conditions. He doesn't drink much nor shop a lot, but he would enjoy the casino if we gave him a couple hundred dollars for it., especially because it will "sort of" be like going to Vegas! (I know, I'm stretching it...) But I don't want to purchase if it can't be used there. Does anyone know? Or does anyone have any other ideas besides the ones I've mentioned above? I was bummed to see that Grandeur does not have Chops because I know he would have liked that. And I may or may not get him an excursion in Cozumel. He is very much a "stay on the boat" type of guy when he cruises, so we'll see.

Why not give your mom a card with money to give to him from the kids and say to use it in the casino.

That would be the thing to do--or make a 'certificate' and attach the cash to it. It all works out the same!
