Upgrade fairy

Greetings Fellow Cruisers ...

My father and I have booked a cruise on Boudicca to Norway in June . We originally had booked a standard inside as it was just the two of us , but we had a visit from the upgrade fairy in December ( about a month after the initial booking ) and we were given an outside cabin with two portholes !

This week we recieved a phone call from our travel agent informing us that we have an oppertunity to upgrade to a " main deck cabin " with a picture window for only £ 24.00 each . We were happy to do this and are now really looking forward to seeing more than we had expected . So there you are ... From steerage to status for only £ 24.00 , Has anyone else had a visit from the upgrade fairy or indeed been offered a cheap upgrade ?

Cheers ...:cool::cool::cool:

We booked a late deal last year and that was a guaranteed inside cabin but with no number - to be allocated on arrival, we were told. When our tickets arrived they had put our number on and it was an outside cabin. Daughter was so excited!

Did FO the world of good as we are seriously thinking of sailing with them again ths year.

Ours was a Norway cruise as well and it was lovely to have the scenic window.

When we booked we were asked if we wanted to pick a particular cabin number (it cost a few bob more) but we knew nothing about the best situated cabins, so said we didn't mind and saved the extra. We didn't go on a waiting list or anything - just let FO allocate whatever they wanted to us having paid for an inside.

In the end we gave the extra we saved on the dedicated cabin number in extra gratuities as the maid was brilliant with the children, as were our waiting staff and wine waiter.
