Anyone cruise on a cargo liner?

Recommended Posts

CruiserCanyon,

Cruised on the cargo ship ZIM Mexico III last

fall. Interesting way to go and would do it

again in Europe on a bigger vessel that carries

more pax. I would not travel cargo ships solo again.

It is totally different than passenger lines,

and you need to bring plenty to read, etc., b/c there's lots of time to hang out without scheduled activity. I heard the author

of Roots wrote aboard a cargo ship. A previous

pax before me was studying for medical boards.

Google freighter cruising for lots of info.

BTY, the ZIM is the ship that collided with

the supply vessel in New Orleans recently. That

broke my heart has I had come to know the Captain and crew well. Wonderful bunch involved

in a terrible tragedy. For facinating reading

of that accident go to nola.com

Do check out freighter cruising, there are lots

of options.
