michelle2 Posted November 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2004 We stayed at the Coast Long Beach hotel for our Nov 7-14 cruise. We paid $140 for the night. We parked our car for free. They have a free shuttle to and from the pier. They room was pretty average. They have a nice buffet breakfast that is included with your room. Belle Posted November 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2004 We're staying there in Jan. How close is it to the Queen Mary? Thinking we could walk from hotel to do early check-in, then back to hotel, get our luggage and then the shuttle. Baggage claim is near check-in, isn't it. Then we could just stay there, wouldn't have to walk to Queen Mary then. Is that possible? Is it as easy as I think? Also could you please tell me what time the hotel buffet breakfast is? Thanks. JohnQ Posted November 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2004 The Coast Hotel is probably less than a mile or two, on same street. We stayed at Guest House Hotel which is about 10 min away, had free parking for cruise week, continental brkfst, and free shuttle to terminal. Only cost us $79 for 3***. playxtwo Posted November 25, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2004 We also stayed at the West Coast Hotel and we are staying there again in April pre-cruise. Great hotel right on the water. Loved the water taxi that stops right at the hotel. It takes you across to all the fun stuff. Very quick walk to the QM. Great to wake up to the bay view and see your ship docked up behind the QM. Great staff as well.
Belle Posted November 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2004 Did you walk to the Queen Mary first or take the shuttle to baggage and then do early check-in? Where does the water taxis take you? How much? We have a bay room too. Hope to see our ship in the morning. Do you know if all bay rooms have a view of the ship? Thanks.
TRACE Posted November 29, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2004 We reserved @ Holiday Inn Downtown. Has a park & Cruise program w/ free shuttle. Think its 99+tax. Bon Voyage!!!
playxtwo Posted November 30, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Our room was bay view . Not all face the QM. I would request it or at least a bay view. The water taxi takes you across the bay it was only like $2.00. Their are great places to eat ,shop, drink etc. We walked over the first night to check out the QM. Then booked an early shuttle over in the am to do early check in on the QM. Very nice staff at the hotel. Kids will enjoy the pool and watching all the boats in the bay. Rare Tgianco Posted April 21, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2009 Found this in the WAY BACK machine. Just reserved a room for Saturday, May 30 for $89 + tax at the GuestHouse International Hotel. After taxes, it will be $101 for the night for two full beds, a continental breakfast on Friday, free parking during the 7-night cruise and transportation to and from the boat before and after the cruise. bobnsofi Posted April 21, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) Sounds like a great deal! Last I recall it was $11/day at the port. We always thought it would be fun to stay at the Queen Mary the night before (right nearby), but at over $200/night, it seems way too high (seems it was lower the last time we checked). Maybe just a quick self guided tour sometime ($25). We've also read about sunset happy hour locations watching the Sapphire & Star leave Sat evening, if you are leaving on a Sunday cruise. http://www.queenmary.com/ Edited April 21, 2009 by bobnsofi
