CruisnGram Posted March 5, 2009 #51 Share Posted March 5, 2009 They NEVER cut off anyones lock or open anyones bag. From reports I've seen it's not unusual to be called down for a mouthwash bottle Not so sure about that anymore Monte. Look at this posting from the other day. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=18420867&highlight=#post18420867 CG
macdadsjaw Posted March 5, 2009 #52 Share Posted March 5, 2009 They dont have time to examine every water bottle they find to see if its sealed. I had 3 liters of water in my carry on back pack, 2 of which were open, could have been anything in there. I took rum runners and was fine, I did have to go to the naughty room to claim by bags because they werent labeled. The people I saw there that had stuff confiscated were people with a big glass bottle of Capn Morgan, or 3 bottles of wine. Same people packed 3 12 packs of beer in a duffle bag with some clothes and that was sent to their room with no problems.
pfanny37 Posted March 5, 2009 #53 Share Posted March 5, 2009 They had you come because your rum runners weren't labeled? Has anyone else had this happen? I just ordered my rum runners, and I'm a bit of a rule follower, so I'm a little apprehensive about the naughty room. Also, should we fill them before we fly or after we land in LA. I prefer to take care of it before leaving home, but wanted more opinions.

jondirk Posted March 5, 2009 #55 Share Posted March 5, 2009 Lol....I think they meant that their luggage wasnt labeled. I should probably label my rum-filled Listerine bottles as well. On my January cruise, I went to brush my teeth before bed and ended up getting drunk instead. The next day I went to the White Party with a drink that I mixed myself and I never did get a buzz but I had the freshest breath all night long. pfanny37 Posted March 5, 2009 #57 Share Posted March 5, 2009 You got me. I'm always laughing at people for not reading correctly, and now it is me who is getting laughed at.;) BTW, I've heard the rum with floride is excellent!

Sun Bunny Posted March 6, 2009 #59 Share Posted March 6, 2009 I was on the Dream 2 years ago and didn't even try to hide my wine boxes. I didn't get questioned about it. Are they more strict now? Do I have to take the wine out of the box? BTW...some box wine is very drinkable.

If you're asking about paying the corkage for a box of wine, personally I doubt they're more strict, but honestly I don't know. I've yet to read where a pax has had their boxed wine rejected. If you're asking if the cabin stewards are going to snitch if you unpack a smuggled box of wine/bladder of wine.. No. This is all JMHO. :)

tiggerfan616 Posted March 7, 2009 #64 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Each time I took my wine to the dining room they checked for the corkage fee sticker. We usually carry 2 bottles with us, DH is a pro with bubble wrap have yet to have one break in our suitcase(knock on wood).

Excellent post, Tiggs.. Why? Because on our embarkation day when we were charged the $15 corkage fee for our bottles, we didn't get any stickers, which we had no idea we were supposed to get. SO.. on our first night we took 3 bottles to the MDR to have them store 2 and open 1. We explained to the steward we'd paid the corkage and even showed him our receipt, and he seemed fine with that, but at the end of the week, there were 3 additional corkage fees added to our OBA. Thankfully we had the receipts to prove our initial payment and Reception was very understanding and removed the additional charges. Get your stickers and keep your receipts. m steve Posted March 7, 2009 #68 Share Posted March 7, 2009 I really resented paying corkage charge before boarding. Had 3 bottles of wine and only reported 2 as one was being drunk in cabin. Bought the romance package so we got 2 more bottles(changed bad champagne for fair red wine) and packed a couple of dozen minis saved from flights in my checked bag as well as 2 small water bottles with vodka along with 8 bottles of water(marked those unobtrusively). No problem. Sailed w/ another couple and ran of V the last night so we opened one of the DF Stolis and used it. As they had no smoking bars except the casino we drank on our balcony or in our cabin. sherwoodr Posted March 10, 2009 #70 Share Posted March 10, 2009 Just got off the Majesty out of Charleston. We began to wonder why our luggage was not at our room. I saw an elderly man get off the elevator pulling a suitcase and asked him if we had to get our own luggage. He said if you have any liquid they hold your luggage. My brother-in-law had a letter on his door saying to go to the naughty room. Since I didn't get any luggage I went with him. Wow! My guess is that one-third of the luggage was in the room. I went to the exit and asked people coming out what was going on. They all said they were taking all booze. One person said he had a Listerene bottle with the seal glued back on and they kept it without even opening it to see what was in it. I figured that I was going to get caught since that was what I did. I had a young person lift my shirts and spot the bottle in plain view. What a shock, he placed my shirts back and gave me my suitcase. He then asked how to open the second suitcase as it had a cable tie on it. I said it had to be cut but that he would only find another bottle of Listerene. He gave me that suitcase also. I thought I was the only one that got lucky but at dinner I talked to a person that got past with a Milk of Magensa bottle. Plan on getting caught. They can tell booze from water by shaking the bottle. Good luck.
macdadsjaw Posted March 10, 2009 #71 Share Posted March 10, 2009 Rum runners no problem. Clear liquid in a water bottle in your carry on. I had 3 Dasani liters (all water). They didnt stop and examine each one, they dont have time when there are 500 people trying to get through securtiy....

If you want to buy it to bring it home, they will take it, tag it, give you a receipt and you claim it at the end of the cruise. If you want to buy it to have on the ship during the cruise, I'm afraid not.
