Has anyone rented a car at the port in Juneau?

Yes. I suggest you do your homework and find out what may be of interest to you for a car rental. There is only one company that works well for cruise passengers.

I reserved through Rent a Wreck (I was a bit confused when the e-mail came to me from RAW--it sounded like something I didn't want to open!). They will pick you up downtown and take you to their office. They also have a couple options for dropping off the car at the end of the day. I don't believe the other rental companies are that helpful. To answer your next question, I think it was about $50 for the day, but I don't have the info in front of me right now.

I only recommend a car if you've been to Juneau a few times and have seen what there is to see without one, or if something of specific interest is calling to you (the Shrine of St. Therese is the most common of those).
