Blue Lagoon? Must you do the tour for sealions?

My husband and I are thinking about doing the sealion swim at the blue lagoon. We know you are only with the sealions for 30min but it says you have like a 3 hour tour with it. Must you do the tour? We would like to spend our time at the beach there instead.

The tour time includes a 20 min ferry ride in each direction, 15 minutes of orientation and prep, 30 minutes with the sea lions and then beach time. The last ferry back is at 4pm.

 

you can choose not to do the sea lions and just do a beach for $45. includes lunch and ferry.
