Bermuda or the Bahamas

They're not exactly family, but my Girl Scouts want to go on a cruise for their big trip. They want to lay in the sun and go shopping. I want them to learn something, too. We were thinking about the Bahamas, but I've been reading about Bermuda and that might work too. We'll be driving from Michigan to the port, so driving time is a factor. We'll have from a Saturday to the following Sunday, including drive time, so I think 3 to 4 nights is the most we can do. Which would be better - Bermuda or the Bahamas and why? Which line would you pick and why? Thanks for the help - Lisa

You will want the Bahamas--not Bermuda, for sunning and fun.

If you're driving from Mich...even doing a Bermuda trip is a hell of a drive to Balt.!!!!

Depending on the time of year--you may have 2 days of the cruise in cold weather!

Save more money, and fly to FL. for a real cruise to the real tropics!

SHortest Bermuda is 5 night most are 7. If I were taking Girl Scouts I would do Bahamas with Nassau and arrange a day at ATLANTIS. also if you are lucky you get the cruiselines private island too.

Thanks for the ideas. Right now, anything is possible. The girls still need to do their reserach, plan a budget and then do the fund raising to make it happen. I'm looking for some ideas to help get them started.

I'm not working with Sue on this trip - it's just for my Troop. But I'd love to go on one of her trips. Unfortuenately, they are alot more money. Well worth it, though. Off topic, she was my kids' teacher before I knew her for GS.

You might want to consider a trip out of New Orleans instead of a trip out of FL. New Orleans would be a much easier drive but then you'd be looking at a Western cruise to places like Cozumel/Progreso. There are very nice beaches in Cozumel and some great ruins around Progreso.

Just something to think about....
