Danno - don't tell anyone around this city that I'm a Wings fan or I'll be dropped in Lake Ontario with concrete tied around my body. Danno Posted April 8, 2004 Author #36 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Duck...I never realized until I started to look into this trip what a small island Manhatten is....seems to be 2-3 miles wide at most points. No wonder walking is such a good idea. I'll call the Plaza this afternoon and try not to sound too much like a Canadian tourist...should I swear or something!! Danno Posted April 8, 2004 Author #38 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Duck, I called the Plaza...a nice park view suite is only $899 for that evening (us$)...that should equate to about $1100 Canadian. My TA has a rate of about $300...I think I'll let her handle this . I (with everyone's help here ) have made the choice now she'll handle the money end. Thanks again everyone... zurmolly Posted April 8, 2004 #41 Share Posted April 8, 2004 What time are you arriving in NY? You and Mrs. might want to have a late night dinner at Carmine's in the theater district. You know know who you will see and the food is great!
DUCK33 Posted April 8, 2004 #42 Share Posted April 8, 2004 carmines food is excellent and they serve late dinners to satisfy the aftr theater crowd. however, carmines food is served "family style" and the portions are much too large for only 2 people. you can get it wrapped to go but you will probably never get a chance to eat it since you are staying in a hotel and leave in the morning for your ship
DUCK33 Posted April 8, 2004 #43 Share Posted April 8, 2004 another theater district favorite is the famous joe allen's. great even for just a drink. ruth chris steak is ok as well but not one of my first choices. too much of the chain store atmospher. SB_Travlr Posted April 8, 2004 #44 Share Posted April 8, 2004 You'll find loads of very helpful information about hotels and restaurants in NYC on the Fodor's Forum (www.fodors.com, Talk tab). They gave me excellent advice for my last trip to the city, last October. Many responders live in the city, and know the inside scoop. The Fodors site has a very good search capability so you can see previous responses. It's a great resource (that often recommends this site for folks planning a cruise!) brigittetom Posted April 9, 2004 #46 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Duck, I still haven't learned that lesson. I always take part of my dinner to go and it always ends up in the hotel wastebasket.
