Transportation from pier in Amsterdam to airport

Recommended Posts

Other than the cruise line transfers, what is the best option for getting from the pier in Amsterdam to the airport quickly? We have 10:30 am return flight the morning of our arrival in Amsterdam so we need to find the quickest and easiest way to get there.

Take a cab.

Or you take the tram/cab to the central station and change to the train.

As Hein says take a cab (around E. 50,- since they often over charge at the cruise-terminal.).

Or train from Centraal Station. However on weekdays trains can be full as it will be rushhour.

You probably will have to be at the airport 2 hours prior departure.

Are their any car services that do transporting from the pier to the airport that might be less than a cab? 50 Euros is quite high but I hate to have a problem getting on a train.

collective transfer is 35 EUR (for two)

if you want to try yourself:

1019BR = postal code

37 = house number

We used this company:

It's 42 EUR for a private transfer - it's maybe safer to have a car of your own before you start a tour to fill up the van...

The train from Centraal Station was fine for us. We were at the airport within an hour of leaving the ship I'd say.

One really important note that I can't explain other than to just say: make sure you have Euro change, not notes, to purchase the tickets at the station. The ticket machines do not take US cards since they do not include the European style chip. They also do not take Euro notes. And the ticket office is neither easy to find, nor short with the lines. Along your cruise, just save up about 6 or 7 Euro of change per person and you'll be able to get through the train station quickly.

This must have another reason, because most European countries do not have the chip on their credit cards.

There are several kind of machines - newer of course accept also Euro Notes...

And if you see demonstration:

10 EUR- and 20 EUR-notes are accepted but on this specific machine no credit cards.
