Drydock in S.F.

Recommended Posts

I just noticed on the news last night where the Elation is in dry dock in San Francisco. There are suppose to be more ships going in drydock on the west coast. I believe the Spirit is going to be here in March. If anyone has any more information on this would be great.

Yes, the Spirit is coming to SF soon for drydock.

You are correct, we will be in San Francisco March 13th for 2 weeks. Should be arriving sometime in the afternoon. The dock is in the vicinity of 20th street. We will be leaving on the 27th, again in the afternoon.

Thanks Light Tech, we'll be getting on board on the 28th, so try not to be late into port! See you on board!

Light Tech,

Can you give us an idea about what they are going to do on the Spirit in that two weeks?

I am sailing to Hawaii with you on April 12th.

Thanks!

Hi Cabana Girl,

The Spirit will be getting some minor hull work done. Just routine scrapping and repainting below the water line. They are probably going to work on the engines and azipods too. Nothing major just general maintenance that cant be performed in the water.

The sound system on all of Lido deck is going to get redone, when they are done we will be able to send what is happening on the Main Stage on Lido deck to the Fan Tail bar and to the forward pool. Right now only the Main Stage is working correctly. Unfortunately when the gear your working with is over 2 years old, something is bound to break.

The big thing is the 2 new shows for Pharrows Palace. High Spirits and Standing Room Only are in the process of being demolished and taken down. Starting this cruise we have started the install of an updated version of Jazz Hot and The Big Easy. We should be completely up and running just after Dry Dock. Installing 2 new shows in 2 weeks and then having to program lighting for 5 shows because of new lighting control equipment is very tough.

The only other things going on that I know of is info touch screens going up around the ship by A/V. These are 40" Plasma screens that you could walk up to and access maps, information regarding the spa, tours, etc. All by touch. And the Spirit will be fully Wireless from Bow to Stearn. You will be able to access WiFi in all guest and crew cabins.

That's all I know of right now, there may be more like new carpet but i do not know of anything.

See you in Hawaii!!

Light Tech, do you know if anything is being done with the cabins such as new TV's, new bedding etc.? We are also headed to Hawaii (and hope to meet both you and Cabana Girl perhaps) in an an aft-wrap suite on the 12th?

Hi Fazzdaan,

I won't be able to meet you in a guest cabin unfortunately, there is a possibility of my self getting fired if I did so. That being said I would be more then happy to meet you at any where else on board sometime. It would easier to do at night since we will be in rehearsals during the days.

I have heard a rumor about new bedding for the guest cabins. They have been replacing our beds for the past 2 weeks so maybe they will be doing the guest cabins. As for new TV's in the cabins, I have been told by a Fleet Supervisor for A.V. who is already here for dry dock that they will not be replacing the TV's. I will have a better idea once we get up to San Francisco and really be able to see what is coming on the ship.

Do you have any idea where there are putting the new touch screen plasmas. I will be on the Spirit in July and it would be cool to try one out.

If you are comfortable doing it you can send me an e-mail at Fazzdaan@hotmail.com. I don't use that box much, but feel free to send a time and place. We are sometimes in the casino, so that may be a good place to meet unless crew can't pass through there.

Let me know.

They will be around the Guest Services Desk, Shore Ex desk, and the Spa. Possibly the Casino as well but the above three are for sure right now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Since the Spirit is in drydock and a crew member was posting on this thread I thought I'd bump it back up and see if we could find out any updates on what she's having done.

Thanks in advance Light Tech for all your insider info!
