Rare Copper10-8 Posted March 9, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 9, 2009 What are "cloggies"? People that wear wooden shoes, thus people from the Netherlands, Holland, the low country, etc. The people from Belgium, once part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, also call the Dutch 'kaaskoppen' aka 'cheese heads' (not to be confused with Greenbay Packer fans) while the Dutchies or 'cloggies' are known to call their neighbors to the south (so, the ones from Belgium) 'patat vreters' aka 'French Fry eaters' due to the Belgiumers supposed infactuation with french fries with mayonaise on top of it! You are now up-to-date on the latest interaction between the very long-time rivalry between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium

Thanks, you all-knowing cloggie! GN Hi Granny!;) Capt. Mercer (yet another Brit;)) is scheduled. Great guy, will always remain our hero for taking Veendam out of Acapulco, twelve years ago, against the Mexican authorities' orders but to escape a hurricane headed straight for town. spcl4cs_gal Posted March 28, 2009 Author #21 Share Posted March 28, 2009 Yes, waaaaaaaaay too early! Just curious about HAL's method of determining where a cruise director might be placed for their next contract. For example, if a CD did the summer in Europe last year would HAL put them in Alaska this coming summer and then possibly flip them back to Europe in 2010. Probably a good question for you to pose to DBA (Dutchbyassociation) on this board. CD scheduling on HAL does not appear to be as clear cut as Capt. and H/M scheduling. The longer cruises on ships like Prinsendam and the 'Grand Voyages' appear to have well-established CD's like Thom Faulkner, Bruce Allan Scudder, Susan Wood, etc.
