raj0728 Posted April 8, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 8, 2009 Great replies! We will be doing a cruise with our toddler (who will be 20 months at the time) in October on the Liberty, which we specifically chose b/c it has a splash pool that allows swim diapers. I am wondering how relaxing the cruise will be with an active toddler, but the grandparents are coming as well, so hopefully that will mean some adult and relaxing by the pool time :) Still need to figure our/research how we will do excursions.. I'm thinking of doing most of the excursions on our own, just taking public transport. And maybe take one excursion in Florence, and then again, I might take the train and just go by our own. And in Rome we're wishing that grandma will stay with the baby and lets us take a tour to Ostia Antica - but also by our own since this isn't offered by the cruiseline and private tours are way too expensive. But if she wishes to do something else we're ok. Not a big deal. I just don't see myself trapped inside a bus with lots of old people and the baby crying for 2 hours... won't take the risk of that happening to me. Probably Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas. ;) So grneyes - you can participate in the Royal Babies/Royal Tots program with your child. There are 3 sessions daily. Some of the program schedules are at the link in my signature. Just click on Kids Activity Schedules, then Adventure Ocean, then look for the Royal tots program page. I grabbed one while I was on Indy. It will generally be the same. Also, they are developing toy lending programs. Childrens books in the library. Stroller time on the jogging track. So just look in your Compass for any toddler friendly activities.

nothriver Posted April 9, 2009 #32 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I'm new to cruising but I traveled extensively with both of my kids when they were babies. My "must have" travel accessory is a small baby proofing kit. I fill a sandwich sz ziploc with some plastic outlet plugs, some small zip ties and large twist ties or velcro straps to secure power cords, drapery cords and yes, I've even tied up the drapes themselves a few times to keep my baby from pulling on them. Finally and very importantly, pack one of those foamy things to prevent the bathroom door for slamming on little fingers - I know a couple children who have done this - ouch. I also take a power strip to keep all of my own electrical cords up and out of baby's reach. Happy travels everyone!
