smoking policy

Depends on the ship and where it is sailing. On the Lirica, for example smoking is allowed in the Lord nelson Pu, the casino , the pool decks and no where else. Regardless of the ship, they do not allow smoking in restaurants and some bars will be non smoking with a few allowing it. They don't allow smoking on balconies either. I'm not sure about inside the cabins, I'm a non smoker, so all I'm interested in is knowing which public areas moking is allowed, so that I can avoid it as it often triggers my asthma

ever since that fire on a princess balcony they have stopped on some ships but not all. it's a shame quite understand people who has asthma or have given up. but do not like only to have the open deck. going on ORCHESTRA in europe(repositioning 3 days for £99!!) so only a short one but it will put me off a longer cruise

Smoking on the Orchestra was allowed along one side of the pool deck, in a few of the lounges/bars, in the casino and in a few other places like a back deck-- according to the Daily there should be no smoking on the aft decks, but I was told that many did go back there to smoke, including crew members and that there was an ashtray on one of the aft decks.

I did hear that people were smoking on their balconys. I also took note of the fact that the sign on the door of the room simply said "Smoking in the room is discouraged" (I took a pic, I need to find it to get the exact wording) That is also how it is worded in the Official Daily program--smoking is prohibited on the balcony but is "strongly discouraged" in the room.

Just a note, I am a non smoker and one of those with asthma issues so I did take careful note of the smoking areas and rules and made sure I just avoided them. Sometimes you have to go through a smoking area to get around but it wasn't a huge problem.

There were 2 main lounges where the evening entertainment took place after dinner. One was non smoking and one allowed smoking. We just choose to go to the activities in the non smoking lounge and skipped those in the other.

thought they might have had a cigar room, as a lot of bigger ships have. strange lines like ncl which i am going on next month have smoking in room,on balcony and have a cigar room too. do not have to smoke just enjoy a cigar at night after dinner

I know the Orchestra definitely had a cigar room. I recall passing it on the way to the Casino one night. They also had a card room and a library. In one of the bars (Amber?) you could sit on one side and smoke, but at the bar itself was no smoking. The lounges had signs letting you know. Considering my parents were traveling with us, and my dad is the type who goes on a trip to Disney looking for one designated smoking section to the next... they had NO complaints finding a place to smoke. I had no complaints finding one with no smoking. It seemed like people just respected each others space.

The MSC Orchestra does indeed have a cigar room, La Cubana, right in the middle of the ship, deck 7. It was wonderful !! I smoked a lot of cigars in it last week ! It is very large and comfortable, and there were cigarette smokers in there as well. I was told by several people who have cruised much more than I that it is the best cigar lounge on the seas. "Bennie" takes great care and pride in it.

I asked about the balcony smoking, and indeed it is forbidden. However, as previously mentioned, smoking in your cabin is merely "discouraged". You may choose to smoke in your cabin if you wish (though I didn't).
