young couples on celebrity?

My husband and I are 34 and 35 and are sailing on Solstice in June...

From what I hear we will be on the younger end and that is fine with us! I'm looking to relax and enjoy some elegance without a bunch of 20-somethings "woo-hooing" all day at the pool and all night at the bar. ;-)

I will be on the Century April 2 09 for my honeymoon. My husband and I are both 23. We will probably be one of the youngest couples onboard....from my understanding! :) Since its our honeymoon....I dont think there will be much "woohoo"ing at the bar or pool....the cabin is a different story! ;) :p :D :o

As with all other lines, the longer the cruise, generally the older the clientele. If you cruise during school vacations, more younger families.

Because X charges more than Carnival or NCL, those two remain more popular with the young drinking crowd.

I think a honeymoon on one of the newer X ships would be very nice for any age.

Im thirty and our first cruise was a few years ago abord the Constellation we did the Summit last year and was a blast. You are not going to be the only 30s and you are going to have a lot of fun. have in mind is not a funship but is a very up-scale ship. Im sure that you are going to like it. We goot hooked after the Constellation

We are in our 30's and have been on the Century twice, once with kids and once without. We've also done Carnival & HA. Carnival was too crowded, and loud for us but a fun line for a group of young drinking friends. HA was too old and boring, zero night life. X was just right both times, relaxing but not boring. If you're not big partiers i'm sure you'll enjoy X. We never felt like we were the youngest cruisers on the ship and i'm sure we weren't. The average age seemed to be mid to late 40s.

DH is 26 and I am 24. We are never out being rowdy at the bars. We are looking forward to our upcoming Celebrity cruise simply because we are ready to be out of the "party" and "family" lines. I really hate that my age alone puts me in the cateogry of the Obnoxious cruisers. All of my friends are in their early 30's and I actually enjoy hanging out with people older than myself. I am hoping this will be the case with Celebrity. We prefer to have a quiet relaxing vacation. We may book some of the more adventurous and physical excursions, but we rarely stay out late, even on vacation!

Hi.

just wondering if there are any young couples age 30+ who has cruised on celebrity and how was the outcome?

thanks. its my honeymoon trip, just want to know who i will be with.

Congrats. First, you two will probably be among the youngest on the cruise. Celebrity Cruise Line does a really nice cruise. You don't have announcements for everything, no poolside games, and it is more sedate than other cruise lines.

Carnival has excellent service, they take good care of their ships, the food is just behind Carnival food. I think Carnival has the best food. There is a tea time every afternoon. Celebrity provides a really good cruising experience. It is one of my favorite cruise lines.

One of the great things about cruising with people who are older than 30 is that they have done things and been places and that makes for great conversation. We (DH & myself 36) have been on 5 cruises and our favorite couple we ever dined with was a couple in their 80's. What a joy to hear about all of the places they had been. Sailing with a crowd that is older than say the Carnival crowd also means less smoking, fewer drunk people, people who know how to dress for dinner, and more available deck chairs.

PS I will cruise with Carnival, Disney, and X again, just for different reasons each time. If you can fit the cruise line to what you are looking for in a cruise then you will probably be satisfied.

My husband and I are in our 30's and we were on The Century last week and we thought the crowd was great. We were definitely not the youngest people on board and I found a lot of people close to our age and even younger. There were some Spring Breakers who were fun to watch but they did not take over the ship. There were some in the retired age category but I never felt like I was on a ship full of grandparents.

It was a good crowd.

Oh, and to the person who said there were no pool games on Century, not so! There were pool games everday and lots of people up and dancing at the pool. I thought it was fun.

LOL----Don't kid yourself 30+ is not THAT young ,but you'll feel that way in comparison .

However don't obsess about age . You'll find energetic ,interesting, fun people in every age group. Don't confine yourself to interaction with those of like age. You'll be doing yourself a disservice.

DH & I are concidering a Celebrity cruise in Nov-Dec; we are both 43 and understand that we might be younger then the majority but we are not big partiers and just would like a nice relaxing vacation with a wonderful itinery which this cruise has.

However I have heard some 'rumors' and I say 'rumors' as I am not certain if they are true or not.

Can someone please shed some light on the following:

1. what time do the pools and hot tubs close

2. are you not allowed to walk around the ship in the evenings in shorts and t-shirts or polo shirts?

if yes, to # 2 what time does evening start

3. other then shows in the theatre what else is there to do in the evenings? do they put on different games [ie, game shows, bingo, dance classes etc]

Thanks everyone for your input.

I just found this on the link [dressing attire] and I find it a bit confusing

Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip flops are not allowed in the evening hours. Additionally, guests are asked to follow the "Smart Casual and Above" dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances.

Before Six

Dining options abound aboard Celebrity. For breakfast and lunch, jeans, shorts and casual daywear are allowed in all dining venues before 6:00pm. After 6:00pm, this attire is allowed only in casual restaurants and cafés.

I find this a bit confusing as the comments under the "Before Six" say shorts are allowed in all dinging venuses before 6pm and after 6pm this attire is allowed only in casual restaurants and cafes. However under the "Note" it says Shorts and flip flops are not allowed in the evening hours.

so are shorts not allowed in eating areas or all areas of the ship?

I understand they are not acceptable in the theatre.

But are they acceptable any other night other then formal night? We tend to dress up on formal night but would rather be a little more casual most other nights as we are not huge on the dining room therefore no big need to dress up on the other nights.

As I said in my response earlier, we are in our 30's and found a lot of people around the same age on the cruise. I certainly would not even come close to saying that we were among the youngest.

In answer to your questions

1. I think the pools and hot tubs close at 9:00pm? But hopefully someone else can tell you for sure.

2. People were walking around in shorts at night and I was a bit surprised but certainly if you are eating in islands buffet, you will see shorts. Most people dressed for the evening but you will not be totally out of place if you do not. I would say evening starts at 6:00pm-7:00pm.

3. They had karaoke on two nights at least. We spent a lot of time in the Casino and at the martini bar meeting fun people. There is a disco which we went to one night and it was pretty quiet. For us, evenings were eating and drinking and gambling. There was a show each night, we went to the comedian which was funny but popped our head in one night to another show and it was embarrassingly horrible. I would not say there is an overwhelming amount of things to do besides the show and the casino and drinking and dancing.

That being said, we had a great time! But, we are pretty easy to entertain.:D

Have a great time!

Thanks :D your making my decision easy for me now, I think I will be calling my TA this week to book. I was only concerned about the rules of no shorts in the evenings as DH wouldn't like that.

I will say the pools and hot tubs do close a little early for me as I tend to only use them right before bedtime but hey I can go without that if I LOVE the itinery as much as I do for this one.

Thanks again

On the last night, I was talking to the cruise director and the activities director at the stir fry bar (which was great!) and they were saying that on the itineraries that are 7 nights and less you see a good mix of ages, over 7 nights, it is mostly retired because the rest of us can't take that much time off.

My experience on Century was similar to ahamills....would agree that there was not a lot of entertainment (besides drinking & gambling) at night. I didn't realize the disco was open at night - stopped by one time and it said it was the "teen disco" so we didn't go back. Next cruise I will adjust my expectations and plan on going to bed early and getting up early! There was more to do in the mornings and the pool was not crowded then.

We did see a lot of young people - the "spring break crowd" - many fewer older people (50 plus) than I would have expected. I think the prices for 4 nite cruise are competitive with Carnival, RCC as many of the college agers are not researching their trips endlessly like us CCers!!!

I would have preferred a quieter, more sedate crowd myself (have college age kids myself) so will plan accordingly next cruise.

Sure,it is difficult sometimes to get vacation over 2 weeks.

You can get here in Europe easier longer holidays when kids have school.

I agree completely with you on this.
