WineDown17 Posted March 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2009 I know there is a great general thread out there on verdanda safety in general... But wanted to see if anyone could comment specific to X (Summit) We just got upgraded to a Royal Suite.. (Our previous suite had no balcony) and didnt want to pass this 1x in a lifetime chance up... Really want to be sure the doors are able to be secured-as he is a clever monkey- climbs, figured out how to unlock all the doors in our house to escape already (thank goodness for the alarm system!).. Esp since the veranda has a hot tub.. My TA says my 12 YO will have difficulty opening the door.. and the 2 YO wont be able to budge it...but would like to hear what some moms and dad think!! Kutty1101 Posted March 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Sorry I can't comment of Summit, but this past January we cruised on the X Constellation. I had those same fears. I was relieved to find that the Veranda doors had the normal mid level handle, but also had a pin-lock about 'adult head level'. It was even hard to us to get open at times. cb at sea Posted March 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2009 The doors are quite heavy--I have trouble getting them started! The cabin isn't so large that you won't be right on top of your "little monkey"--don't stress!
dianelevene Posted March 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2009 When our kids were littler there was no way that they were strong enough to open those balcony doors. I even find them difficult to open sometimes.
