Holland America Line Adds More to Vacation Stimulus Plan

Special Incentives for Families & Discounts on Hotel Packages

Seattle, March 16, 2009 – Holland America Line has added additional savings and incentives to its popular Vacation Stimulus Plan. Guests can now take advantage of free or reduced cruise fares for a third or fourth person in a stateroom plus 25 percent discounts on most pre- and post-cruise hotel packages. All Vacation Stimulus Plan incentives are available on 2009 sailings departing after May 1 and all 2010 cruises.

New program elements also include no deposits required on third and fourth guest bookings. These new benefits are in addition to original elements of unprecedented low fares, deposits reduced by 50 percent, a 25 percent savings on standard Cancellation Protection Plan and suspended fuel supplements for cruises.

“People want to receive the best value for their vacation dollar,” said Richard D. Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guests programs. “And we want to make cruises more attractive than ever with these incentives.

“These are great cruise values and, as I’ve said before, it’s time to buy low and live high,” stated Meadows. “You can’t afford not to cruise this year.”

Third and Fourth Guest Savings

New benefits feature significantly reduced third and fourth person cruise fares — in some cases free and as low as $99 per person — for select sailings and no deposits required for any third or fourth person booking. For example, a seven-day May 23 or 30 Canada/New England sailing for a family of four starts at $1,398 plus taxes ($699 per person and free for two children). Guests receiving free third and fourth cruise rates must pay applicable taxes.

Savings on Hotel Packages

Holland America Line also will reduce all pre- and post-cruise hotel packages by 25 percent. Packages are available for most cruise destinations and range from one-night up to three-night stays in an upscale hotel, transfers and baggage handling at a cruise gateway city. For example, with new discounts, prices start at $74.25 per person at the Tampa Airport Marriott for hotel, transfers from airport to hotel and hotel to pier, baggage handling at the hotel and tax. Alaska cruisetours are not eligible for this discount.

Still Unprecedented Low Fares

Lead fares for the View and Verandah promotion start at $449 for 7-day Alaska cruises, $599 for 7-day Caribbean sailing, and $999 for 10-day Europe voyages. There are savings to other exotic destinations, such as $1,199 for 16-day South America cruises, $1,399 for 14-day Australia/New Zealand cruises, and $1,599 for 12-day Southeast Asia sailings. Taxes are additional on all per person cruise fares.
