Question re: parking at Brooklyn Pier

Taking one way cruise to Europe from Brooklyn pier. We plan to park at Brooklyn pier, fly back to JFK airport 10 days later . We plan to take a cab from JFK to cruise terminal, but have 2 questions/concerns:

(1) Any chance the parking lot will be full when we arrive, and what alternatives we would have if that were the case?

(2) Fight back is due to arrive early afternoon on a Sunday. Are there potential problems getting car out of the parking lot--could it be closed if there are not ships in port that day or if our flight is delayed and we end up arriving at a late night hour?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

2. yes there is a guard there who falls asleep a lot so it may take you a long time to get it out.

 

I would suggest you park it at avistar parking at the airport and cab to the port. Its cheaper parking at the airport and you car will be there when you return. You can have a car service pick you up at avistar and take you directly to the port- cheaper than a cab. I use Arecibo 7187836465...

Thanks smeyer. We may take your advice as it probably would be a good idea to park near JFK. Reason we are considering parking in Brooklyn is we are coming from Maryland, so the distance on day of cruise embarkation we would have to travel would be an extra 90 minutes or more round trip going past Brooklyn to the airport and back to Brooklyn to catch the ship.

drop off the luggage at the pier first. Yes its a good 90 minute round trip from the airport to the port but you can spend a hour or more getting the car out when you return. you will be tired and ready to get home. It means leaving earlier. I would aim to be at the pier dropping off the luggage and your guests no later than 11 am. and then you trip begins not the other way around......You will save at least an hour not having to go to the Brooklyn pier when you return(just go over the V-N bridge and across Staten Island to eventually the NJ Turnpike...

actually I thought about this and it will save you some time if you go directly to JFK and park and then cab directly to the pier with passengers and luggage....you won't have to make a round trip...
