September cruise on the Fantasy; Cozumel

I have been looking around on the board and had alot of questions answered but have a few I'd like to ask...

We are cruising in September on the Fantasy out of New Orleans. Having only cruised Disney before we are a little worried about the "party" atmosphere on Carnival? I know that the worst usually gets posted but am wondering how the atmosphere seemed onboard for those cruising in the fall? Do the ships seem extremely crowded at that time?

We will only be going to Cozumel and are wondering about the weather and water temp then...also, we are looking for THE BEST snorkeling while there!

Thanks in advance!!!

Rhonda

I've been on the Fantasy twice.. did not see any partying atmosphere. I haven't cruise carnival in the Fall.

I would guess more the the Patry type atmosphere would be during the summer and spring break.

The first Fantasy cruise we did the 3 reef snorkel via Carnival.. It was ok.. a few locations weren't much to see.. the area around the national park had more fish.

I was on this ship last August. I didn't notice any more partiers than normal. The only ones that were diehard was about a group of 10-15 college aged individuals, but the only time we really seen them was at night when they were hanging around the casino and bar as we walked by to the theater. Big Tex said they had about 2,000 kids on the ship and they were hardly noticed as well. For the water temps at the beginning of August they were quite nice not too hot but not freezing. It was a blas and I wish I could go back on the Fantasy but we're looking at the Destiny after the week after I graduate MWD handler school. Enjoy your cruise, the Fantasy is one heck of a ship!

I was on the Fantasy last winter and did not notice excessive partying. Just your normal fun on a cruise. We did notice that there were lots of "groups" on the cruise.

I can't say how the water will be but the weather will be great. We usually don't just go to Senor Frogs when we visit Cozumel. Now they do some PARTYING!:p

Hi Rhonda. I was on the Fantasy in February. Most of my cruises are taken in early September - my favorite time to cruise, because few kids are on the ship. Never noticed any excess partying, just folks having fun.

One place to avoid is the Lido Deck mid-afternoons. The 'games' are played, w/lots of whooping and hollering. Nothing rowdy, just loud. Would be a good time to go to "Tea Time". Check the Capers (daily newsletter) for the time.

I agree w/Marie. I found the snorkeling at Chankanaab Nat'l Park on Cozumel to be wonderful! There are SO many fish, and they have underwater statues. The reefs are pretty, too.

By far, the best place to have lunch on Coz is Pancho's Backyard - either location. Fantastic food, reasonable prices, HUGE margaritas, w/nice entertainment.

Welcome to CC, and I hope y'all will enjoy the Fantasy as much as I did.:)
