Excited about Cruising Posted March 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2009 I heard that they stopped doing the midnight buffets to save money. Just wondering it that's true. We are thinking of jumping on the Valor next spring and want to make sure we have plenty to eat! :D

dan40 Posted March 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2009 I heard that they stopped doing the midnight buffets to save money. Just wondering it that's true. We are thinking of jumping on the Valor next spring and want to make sure we have plenty to eat! :D You have been misinformed. At 11:30 EACH evening there are one or two buffet lines open in the Lido buffet, serving hot food for those who are hungry. Also there is one themed midnite buffet by the pool, usually Mexican food. What is gone is the elaborate food and ice carvings and the "GALA midnight buffet in the dining room. Those were photo ops, not food events. People came, took lots of photos, ate nothing, and left. The food all went in the garbage. Some time back, a year or two, these were reduced from a nightly event to a once a cruise event. Now its just gone. Carnival also serves snacks at 11:30PM by the casino and there is 24/7 room service. The danger of starvation is slightly below paramount!:D Years back, they used to set up a hot breakfast buffet on the Promenade deck right by the casino. Ham, sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, eggs, etc. This OPENED at 2:30AM! That has been gone a long time now. Dan
poobears Posted March 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2009 We never seem to stay up late enough to hit the midnight buffet. The mexican one sounded fabulous but eating at midnight just doesn't seem to appealing to me. Sadly I'd rather be sleeping in my super comfy bed with the waves rocking me. I'm such a party animal :D

S.S.Oceanlover Posted March 24, 2009 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2009 They still had them on the Triumph in February. I was on the Triumph and they had no midnight buffets except for the Mexican deck party which got moved indoors because of inclement weather.
