Piano Bar.. Why should I go?

It's been full of 20-something people everytime I've been in it and they all seem to be having fun because it's interactive.

Some of the piano entertainers are real duds and spend more time asking for tips than they do playing so each experience can be different.

It's also the pre and after dinner smoking area for many on the fantasy-class ships.

Never been to the Piano bar. I guess I have always assumed it was for the "older folks".. but reading some of the threads I may be wrong..

Tell me about the piano bar.. Thanks!

We had our first piano bar experience on our last cruise Ecstasy, Neon Bar, Lorraine playing and singing, she was great and we had a blast, went a couple of times, late and the crowd was small and fun. Tried going a third time, WAYYYY to smoky, so we didn't stay that time but on the whole we enjoyed it, would try it again!! Singing along and requesting songs was great!

I did a back-to-back. Week one, the piano bar was okay. Week two, a really fun group of people went every night and it was WAY fun. Usually, it's hard to get me to do anything other than blackjack in the evenings on my cruise, but this time, I left the tables early most nights and spent at least an hour if not more in the piano bar.

Just wander by a few times and see if it looks like fun to you. If it looks like fun, chances are it IS fun...

Lot's of younger people...if you don't like singing though, you won't get it! Part of the fun is singing along...someitmes at the piano by yourself, sometimes sitting in your seat singing along with the chorus at the top of your lungs!! Either the casino or the piano bar for me (although karaoke is good too!) I do agree these areas are ALL too smoky at times...but live and let live, that's my motto!! :)

When you can hear the piano bar from down the hall and you get there and it is packed.....go in.

You will love it.

If it is empty...that is a sign. A lot of it depends on the crowd on that particular cruise.

If i sang..the bar would empty out very quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe with a crowd that would over power my horrible tone deaf voice!

I went to the paino bar on the Valor and Ron Pass the the guy in there. He was good, cute, funny, and entertaining. Alas, after forgetting to bring money with me (I had my sail and sign card only) and a desperate need for an oxygen mask for the smoke, I left after 15 or 20 minutes. He did have a good crowd and people were getting in the mood. He must have been good because he probably had close to $50 bucks in that first 15 or 20 minutes!!!!!!

I haven't been in the Piano Bar on Carnival yet, but DH and I spent every evening in the Piano Bar on HAL Veendam. It was a fun sing along. The pianist passed out booklets of songs with the words and she could play just about anything you requested. She knew a variety of songs requested by the young and not so young. "Loree (pronounced LOR-AY) from LA"; she was great.

Everytime I've been to the piano bar the crowd was more middle aged, which suited me just fine:D Others are right though, if you have a good player who gets the crowd involved, it's a blast. I've also heard that it's a great hang out for solos.

When I was on the Carnival Fascination in '99, I was 19 and spent a lot of time in the piano bar while ditching my parents. It's a fun atmosphere, and a great place to meet people. I loved it then, and I'm sure I will love it when I sail on the Glory in August.

Hmm... the piano bar and the dance club are two things I've never tried before. In the case of the piano bar, it's mostly because I travel with DM, and due to her allergies her lungs close up very quickly around cigarette smoke. Just walking past there makes her start to close up. I may have to ditch her for a little while on the next one so that I can check it out ;) I can't work up the nerve to do karaoke, but I can do a sing-along.

Last year the piano player did not allow smoking:D It was a wonderful place to hang out all week. We went on the Glory and I swear he was playing for a funeral. No one showed up all week. He was horrible, and yes, I did write it on the comment card. If you have never been to the piano bar, check it out. It could end up being lots of fun. And the crowd sometimes makes it, so check it out more than just 1 nite.

Hey Trock! Where've you been hiding? I was watching my Victory video yesterday and was wondering if I filmed any of you up on the Lido.

We used to always go to the piano bar when we started cruising in our 20's (barely:p). I was glad someone recommended and we did, cause we always had a blast. It always helped having a personable piano player. One of our last visits dreadfully lacked that, and it was AWFUL.

We haven't gone for about the past 10 years having a child in tow.
