Dining waitlist question

We booked for 2nd seating and are currently waitlisted, my question is this: if we are still waitlisted by the time we board (3 weeks, 3 days and counting) can we ask to be changed to anytime dining as we don't want 1st seating (Although that is also waitlisted so might not even be an option), if we can request the change should we try to change before we cruise or wait until we get onboard?

I believe you can switch to anytime dining at anytime, including after you board. If you talk to the Maitre'd sp? when on board you could also try again for the seating that you want. When we were on Holland last year we had to wait in a long line to do this though...it seems as though many people are assigned the wrong seating etc and don't realize until onboard. I will say that anytime dining on Princess is quite nice especially if you have a lot of port days.:)

If your requested seating is waitlisted, you are usually put into Anytime, not one of the other traditional seatings. And in your case, since both early and late are waitlisted, it will most certainly be Anytime. So you don't really need to do anything. So far, Anytime has never been waitlisted on any sailing of any Princess ship and is unlikely to ever do so.

If you're on the waitlist for either seating, by default you will be put into anytime dining. However, you can always try talking to the Maitre D' on the first day (the time/location for this will be listed in the Patter). If you really want late seating, I would recommend going to this no matter what number you are on the waitlist - our preference was accomodated and we were ~#200 on the waitlist for that seating. Good luck!

We were on the Sapphire Mar. 7-14 and had been waitlisted for first seating traditional. We were placed into Anytime Dining when we got our cruise card at embarkation. DW went to see the maitre'd as soon as we got on the ship. We received an envelope about two hours later clearing us from the waitlist and assigning our table for first seating in Traditional Dining.

Cherylandtk is correct: if you are waitlisted for a specific seating and it's not confirmed by the time you board, you'll be automatically assigned to Anytime, not to the other Traditional seating. If you have any questions about your dining, see the Maitre D' when you board. He'll be either in a dining room or a specialty restaurant taking/changing dining requests.
