Are there nonsmoking rooms on Pearl?

Just booked an Alaska cruise on the Pearl and now that I'm reading the FAQs, I see that people are allowed to smoke within the rooms! Do the rooms smell of smoke? Are there any blocks of nonsmoking rooms?

There are no non smoking rooms on any NCL ship. However, many comments have been made here by non smokers who have never had any odors in their rooms. Evidently, a strong ionizer is used to "fumigate" the rooms between passengers so your room smell's like a non smoking one.

Thank you! We've only sailed Disney before and they are nonsmoking!

We have asthmatics so really can't be in rooms that are smokey.

I understand completely. I really don't think that you will have any problem at all and I'm sure some others will post their experiences as well.

Have a great trip!

We are non smokers, and the only area where we noticed smoke at all was outside the casino (and presumably IN the casino, but we didn't go there). Our room did not smell of smoke at all. I talked to one passenger who complained about their room. The stewards came, re-cleaned it, and when the passengers went back, it was fine.

One thing I have read that you might want to do is when you first get into the stateroom, smell your pillows and make sure they do not smell of smoke. If they do, you can have the cabin stewards change them out for you. Other than that, you really read of very few complaints from people who say they could smell smoke in their cabin from the previous pas. IF you do find your cabin smells of smoke, the cabin stewards can quickly take care of it..

Enjoy your cruise.

i HATE the smell of cigarette smoke and we just got from the Pearl very recently (2 weeks ago??) and never smelled any cigarette smoke.

definitely not in the cabin.

the only time i smelled it was maybe in the casino and then if you passed someone on the deck smoking.

Agreed -- if you lose the neighbor lottery and have a smoker next door or across the hall, smoke will often make its way into your room. We had one time when it was totally unbearable (chain smokers in cabin directly next door) and (fortunately) were able to switch rooms (a well worth-it "downgrade" to be able to breathe) on the second day of the cruise.

Unfortunately, on our recent cruise a passsenger in an adjacent cabin smoked, and there were times when you could detect it in our bathroom and our closet. It also drifted over to our balcony when he was smoking outside on his.

As a smoker myself, Im sorry that happened to both of you. While both Doug and I smoke, we do not smoke inside our home or inside hotel rooms, cruise staterooms, etc, because we do not like that stale smoke smell either. We do smoke on our balcony on cruises and I am sure some non smokers think that is probably just as bad to be next to us as what happened to you, but we do try to be respectful of those around us. I too would be miserable having that smell in our stateroom 24/7.
