Star Princess

Last yr we were on the Star from Valparaiso to Seattle for 22 days. The ship and crew were fine. The only problem we had was our original room was over the Explorers Lounge and it started up about 10PM. The female singer and drums keep us awake until about 1 AM. After a couple of days the Pursers Office was able to move us to a better location. We had been in about E506

We were on the Star last year in May ,Alaska round trip back to Seattle> She is way ahead of the Elation in all fashion..My only kickback was standing in line for over a hour to re-board after our train ride. It was 40 degrees and the Screening was like for-ever to get up the gangplank, which some one fell down on too.Loved the Stargazers lounge on the fantail. Watch the whales at Juneau on the small boat.

You are going to love the Star. We were on her to Mexican Riviera in Nov. of last year. Had the wonderful C-753 aft cabin. We were on her 2nd sailing after getting out of refurb. Found nothing wrong as far as we were concerned. That was our first aft cabin, will not go back to anything else if we can help it. Have an aft cabin on her sister ship the Golden for Alaska in May. Did have the Star aft cabin C-753 for Mexican Riviera for April 2010 out of San Francisco but it was cancelled, darn. Really enjoyed the International Cafe for lunch. So happy to hear they are doing the same to the Golden.

Can someone who has been on the Star recently tell me if there is still a covered pool? Someone mentioned in another thread that when they added MUTS to ships, they took away the cover on the pool. I sure hope this is NOT true. I think MUTS will be useless in Alaska, but a covered pool would be great!

Tigerdadky, we are a group of about 24 from Louisville going the week before you on the Star. Maybe we will pass each other on Sunday morning the 31st. How are things in Hickman? Always watching for good things to learn about the Star. I have asked those going on the 10th to provide a full review when they get back. Go to the rollcalls board and watch for their reports sometime after the 17th.

Thank you! On my previous Alaskan cruise, the covered pool was the only one that regularly got used. I was looking forward to another covered pool on this cruise, and nearly freaked when someone said that they took away the cover when they added MUTS to ships. That poster must have been misinformed. I am so relieved!

The Star's a great ship, and you're going to love her. We were on her last November for a Mexican Riviera cruise and liked her very much. Service was great, in both cabin and dining room. Food was very good, in fact I thought it was above average of what we've seen. Lovely big wrap around promenade deck, which is a biggy for me.

Thanks for all the replys about the Star, it seemed as if no one traveled on it but knew that wasnt true. Just guess the CC's that write most of the reviews on here were on a diffenent ship. I've been on medium sized ships and a small ship (Carnival Celebration) and I really don't think the ship makes the cruise that much. Our best time was on the Celebration and it lacked all the bells and whisltes of most ships. Just wanted to hear some good things about the Star to help me get over my wait. Thanks again and bring on some more.

I was on the Star last November on a Mexican Riviera cruise and I thought everything about the Star was fabulous! I especially enjoyed my cabin E729, a mini suite with extra large balcony. I even had a cocktail party in my cabin with about 20 or so people. The highlight of the Star was the Chef's Table dinner. It's a bit pricey but worth every shekel. The cost is $75 per person and I don't think that's enough for all that they do for you and all food you are served. Starts with a tour of the kitchen with lots of champagne and hors d'oeves (not sure how spell that word). Then a private dining area in the dining room with lots of courses and wonderful service. There were about 12 people in our group. Don't miss it. The crew is fabulous and the food was better than I expected it to. I don't do buffet's so I can't comment on the Horizon Court. Don't miss the pizza on the LIdo deck. It's terrific, in my opinion. I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful ship. The other CC's who I got to know through our Roll Call also made this cruise really special for me too. A wonderful group I would love to cruise with again. I would recommend getting to know the Roll Call people. You will make some wonderful friends.

We will be on the Star Princess on May 31 for the Alaskan inside passage cruise out of Seattle. Id love to hear from some former Star passangers their opinion of the ship and any secrets they wanna share.

If you go to youtube and type in Star Princess there will probably be some videos of the ship, I know there are some of Alaska cruises.

I was on the Star a few years back and will be going again in August. I definitely do not like this ship as much as I like the Coral due to the layout of the ship. It is much easier to get around the Coral then on the Star. The traditional dining room is a pain to get too and you have to walk through the casino to get to one of the show lounges. Other than the layout I think it is a nice ship.

We took the same cruise last May 17 and it was great! We had a real nice room steward. Asked for the waffle top on the mattress and slept great.

Room B744 was a great aft ship location, partially covered balcony.

This is a GREAT ship!! Out fourth time!!

We will be on the June 7 sailing to Alaska in E729. This is a legendary cabin and we cannot wait.

We have been on each of the Grand Class ships and have been looking forward to getting back on the Star. It is the best of the class.

Thanks,

John
